I am going to jump in here and probably get everyone mad at me here but I don't see any harm in a breeder saying she has teacup puppies. The reason breeders use this term is to let people know that their puppies are under 4 pounds. What is so bad about that? Why is it wrong to describe the size of your puppies as 'teacups'? I am not a breeder but this is how I read between the lines.

This is a perfect example of why! She will be about 2lbs full grown....so they say!! And NO, the price isn't a typo!

My dog is 3 lbs and the breeder where I got her from is Indiah (ExoticYorkies) from this board and she breeds small puppies. All I can say is her puppies are healthy and Niyah is very healthy at 3 lbs.
I have noticed since I have been on this board that many get upset that breeders breed smaller dogs but I don't see where this is a problem if the breeder are breeding healthy smaller dogs. I can honestly say that I didn't buy Niyah for her size. In fact, when Indiah first told me about having a 2 yr old for sale, it was through a PM and all she said that I remember is that she had a 2 yr old female dog for sale and I was totally interested before I even found out her weight. After Indiah told me her weight, it did not deter me from buying her just because she was only 3 pounds. Not once did I think the dog could be sick. I knew in my heart that she was healthy. Indiah even went out of her way to take the dog to the vet for a checkup and shots. Not too many breeders will do that with an older dog I have found.

I don't want to get banned because of my post but I feel that we ALL have the right to our opinions without being jumped on or banned for it.

But you have to remember. Not all breeders that sell smaller dogs ask this ridiculous price. There was a member here on the forum that sold small puppies in Texas for a very reasonable price. Do a search on it and you will find it. He/she did not ask no outrageous amount for his dogs.

I want to know why also...Why can we say Teapot but not Teacup without ticking off so many people?

I have news for you all. If I want to use the word teacup, I will. You don't have to like it. I don't think it is a crime to say that on here. Is it and what is the punishment for it?

This is the last I am going to speak about this on this thread. It was not right that Delta got suspendend. Granted she should have NOT called people stupid on here but I am not so sure that is why she was banned. I think it was because she feels so strongly about the word 'teacup'

i agree with you .. You should be able to say what you want to as long as your not hurting any one . After all this is america what happen to freedom of speech . If we say t-pots you all laugh and say oh what a big boy . Well when i bought my little yorkie i stressed to the breeder that i did not want a big yorkie .i even told her i wanted ,, yes a t-cup and thats what i got a healty 3lb _t-cup ... That my thought

It's the many breeders like the one I just posted that makes the word "teacup" so disliked.

delta is my daughter and i don't agree with it .. They banned her and said reason for banned--- no specfic reason -- date banned will be lifted never how do you banned someone and say no reason i know the reason she said t-cup . Well she does have a t-cup .. 2lbs /4oz.. Thats sure not a t-pot

Ok, I am new here as well as a new Yorkie owner. I am at a loss for words. Can someone please educate me on the term teacup? A term I have heard all my life. (or is it just St. Louis who still uses this term?) Seriously, I, would have posted the same mistake becuase I am truly ignorant to the subject and terminology. Can someone please explain this to me or tell me where in the forum I can read up as to educate myself?

I don't care if you call her a teaspoon!:p You asked a question and I answered, no need to get irate about. I am glad she is a healthy 3 lbs! I just prefer the teapots myself, they aren't as fragile.

Some unscrupulous breeders advertise Teacup Yorkie puppies to take advantage of those people who are not very familiar with Yorkies. By telling someone that they are getting a "Teacup" Yorkie, they make the buyer feel that they are getting something special and charge them an absolute fortune for it too...they are breeding tiny tiny females regardless of their health and well being to produce these tiny dogs...all they are interested in is lining their own pockets.:mad::thumbdown
