| Potty Pad Obsession--HELP!! Kimbo is 10.5 weeks old and has been potty pad training with great success. The problem is that he prefers his potty pad to any other place in the house. If he's given a toy he loves, he drags it straight to the potty pad and plays with it there. We re-direct him to another play area away from the pad, but he always goes back to it. He gets sleepy and instead of heading over to his luxerious crate (that he sleeps in nicely), he walks over to the potty pad, curls up, and dozes off! He doesn't care if it's peed on already, but a clean on will really set him off. Is it the "attractant" in the pad? He seems like a kitty hopped up on cat nip. Is there a way I can remedy this habit without derailing his training? |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hmmm...what about getting him a square/rectangle pad/bed and put it kind of near the pad...then move it away a little, little more, little more...maybe he likes the shape and open-ness of the pad vs. his crate?

| Wylie's mom, I hearby name you The Yorkie Whisperer! You were right on with your advice! We are no longer playing on the potty pad. We did have to do some re-direction since "potty where you play" was ingrained in his mind, but he's doing great! Thanks a million... |
