4 months a 5.6 pounds!!!!!!!!! We went to the vet today for his last shot  is this normal???? I was surprise cause he does seem small to me |
If your vet wasn't alarmed then it must be his healthy weight as long as he still looks well proportioned. 5 lbs is still small. :) |

Fiona is 16 months old and weight 10.6 lbs! she is a bigger gal! more to love! ;) |
Well he has a lot more growing to do and will likely be over the 7 pound standard. I wouldn't consider it abnormal though. |

Hahaha dont you love that??? My last dog (a bichon) was SUPPOSED to be under 10 lbs... well we ended up wtih 20lbs of love instead. IM crossin for my babies to be 5lbs and less after the 20lber... ROFL |
Piper's 5 years old and 5 pounds, and he seems small to me. I think you'' be just fine. |
it seems like he is growing a pound a month. Is this how they grow??? |
My lil Shay is 4 1/2 months and is 1.7 pounds...wish he would get a lil meat on his bones so not be soo fragile... I dont know when they stop growing I would like to know that too. |
If I'm not mistaken I think they stop growing at about 8 months, but they could still "fill out" some more. Are you sure of his birthday? Maybe he is older than you think. My breeder is scatterbrained and said Uni was 8 weeks when she was actually 12. Also last vet visit the scale was wrong and we had to reweigh her. Either way, I think the bigger ones are more sturdy, don't have to always to the yorkie shuffle, you can walk like a normal person. LOL |
I like that Ranger is not a fragile little puppy. It seems like he has grown so much. It is better this way because I love just scooping him up and kissing him all over! |
A lot of people will say that they stop growing around 8-12 months old but both of mine didn't stop growing until they were around 18 months old. My girl was just under 2 lbs at 10 wks and she is just under 6 lbs now and she is 3 yrs old. My boy was 3 lbs at 13 wks and is 10 lbs at 2 yrs old. It really is hard to tell what they'll end up weighing even when you know their heritage... there's always a chance that one will be small and/or another large. :) I have one of both sexes, sizes and colors and I couldn't love them more. Enjoy your baby! |
Hes just gonna be a larger yorkie. I have one that is 11 lbs and he is still a smalll dog |
My girl is 8.5 lbs and she still seems small to me. But she is sturdy enough that I don't have to worry so much. Her parents were both around 5-6 lbs, so you just never know. |
5.6 pounds is still very small. Jackson is 14lbs at 9 months old and he still seems small to me. |

I don't think there's any such thing as "too big", I mean unless your Yorkie is overweight. |
My Bella is 15months and is 4.5 lbs. I think she's pretty small but she definitely doesn't think she is, jumping off the bed and such. |

My baby is 10 pounds and I love it. We can really play with him and not have to worry so much about hurting him, especially with my kids. I always though I wanted a really small one, but now that I have Roscoe he is perfect size.:) |
Tucker was 5 pounds even at 4.5 months old, he is now 9 pounds and has hasnt gotten any bigger since he was around 7/8 months, on the 23rd of this month he will be 10 months old. He got bigger than I expected being that his parents were around 4 pounds each, however I LOVE his size, he is still small (7 inches in height) and solid as a rock, he is not fat at all. I certianly worry less about him than I do my 4 pound toy poodle (2.5 years old). When I look into getting another dog I will definitly will look into one that is going to be on the "bigger" side. Your pup will probably be around 10 pounds when fully grown and that is still a small dog, more to love!! :) |
This was roughly Twinkle's weight at 4 months too! She's just over a year old now and weighs 12lb. The vet says she isn't overweight....just on the larger side for a yorkshire terrier, and I don't think my boy Wicket (nearly 6lb at 6months) will be far behind her! As someone has already said, a dog under 20lb in weight is very small for a dog. Our other dog, kaddie, is almost 30kg at 6 months old, so all other dogs seem tiny to me now!:D Would love to see some pics of your pup....I bet he's adorable! xxx |

Skeeter is a big boy too at 8.5 lbs. The only time I really notice it is when I pick him up after holding Adie. He is a small dog and just as cute as a button. |
I had to laugh at the Yorkie shuffle...isnt that the truth! hahahaha |
