beuten | 07-12-2009 01:24 PM | exercise even when it's hot outside When it is 90+ at 7 a.m. and at 9 p.m., and 113 during the day in AZ., it is hard to take our little yorkie for a walk. We invented a hide-and-seek game for him to get exercise in the house. My husband and I each take a few treats. He goes in one room that serves as the "base." He calls Shobi to him, and when Shobi gets there and sits, he gets a treat. That gives me time to "hide" in another room. Shobi has to find me by my voice as I call him. After he does and gets a treat, he is called back to the "base," and I move again. After a few well-rewarded runs around the house, Shobi has had as much exercise as he would have had on a walk! Hope this helps others who live in hot climates during Summer months! Shobi loves the game. |
