Poor Maddy... I think DH is going to explode.... :( Poor Maddy... I am so worried that hubby is going to explode! I walked in the living room and flipped on the light switch and no light came from our floor lamp... Weird, so I went to look at the light and noticed a piece of power cord on the carpet. Upon further inspection, I see what I was fearing. Miss Maddy had gone behind the couch when we were gone and chewed thru the cords to Hubby's surround sound, a 400 DVD changer, the floor lamp, and my phone charger. He is so p/o'ed I can't even explain it. He looked like his head was going to literally explode... Maddy RAN into the guest bedroom and hid. She was whimpering and shaking under the bed. He threw the flashlight and literally kicked our couch! (which ticked me off...) then he stormed out!!! He says she has to be locked up when we are gone and that she was lucky that we are even keeping her. She just chewed about 1000 dollars worth of electronics, which is my husband's obsession. :( Sheesh........ what a night. |
Awww! :) Maddie, we just still love you! I understand your husband's frustrations though... that would definitely have made me mad at Jackson too. Jackson chewed through my TV cord but I just got a new one, no big deal, but all that stuff is a lot more difficult to replace! He will forgive her, how can you resist that face? Give him a few days to breathe... |

She was a busy little thing while you were gone. It's all so easily replacable. My hubby has replaced so many cords over the years (due to pets) and it always works. Good thing the power was off to it all. Roxie did this to my electric blanket. The chords run under the bed and for some odd reason she decided to chew them up. I was so surprised and happy she didn't get shocked. This was the past winter and she never has done that to a chord before. You expect it from a puppy but not from a 2 year old dog. How old is your Maddy? |
He's lucky she wasn't hurt...and should thank his lucky stars. Things can be replaced...or fixed, she can't be. Hope he calms down...and puppy proof the house, so this can be avoided in the future. |
So sorry for all that drama. I am sure your hubby will calm down when he realizes he can probably take all the stuff in to a repair shop and have the cords fixed for a pretty minimal cost (hopefully anyways). It might be worth keeping her either crated or in a puppy-proofed room from now on though, think about if she had gotten electrocuted, you would have lost so much more than stuff. |

I think he is so ticked because I have begged him to let me leave her out. She is so good when we are home and is totally puppy pad trained. Then this happens. I think he is mad that he gave in and let me have my way. So not only is he mad at her, he partially blames me. |
Ah, poor Maddy -- buy hubby some electrical tape and some of those splicers. You can fix those cords back good as new. We have a few repaired cords here too. Last night though..... Rocky found my glasses! My Coach frames with the invisiline, self-darkening lenses......and Rocky chewed on them! Not only did he make them crooked, take off little bite marks of the self-darkening coating, he chewed a couple of the jewels out of the dragon flys and a piece of metal that are no where to be found. Checking those droppings closer though.... I am back in my contacts that have not worked for me since the addition of the bifocal feature. My very favorite glasses , chewed on! So Monday, I have to go order another pair. Nothing is safe with a puppy in the house! But I could not stay mad too long. He is just so darned cute! I know you feel the same way about Maddy. They really can't do anything all that bad to keep from loving them to no end! |

Maddy honey, it will be ok. Mazie (cocker spaniel) and I have chewed our fair share of cords. Mommy gets mad but not forever. Is it possible to block her into the kitchen when you leave her? That way she would still have an area to roam but there usually limited number of cords hanging down. I block my kids into the kitchen when I leave with their toys and blankets and they seem to be fine. Good luck |
Yikes, I am sorry for your Maddy and hubby. I would invest in a kennel, I have 2 yorkies and I always lock them up when we are gone--for fear of chewing something they aren't suppose to, or worse--getting into something the kids left laying on the floor. I hope he can figure out how to repair the cords. |
Oh boy Maddy.. you are a little devil... lol It is very unfortunate that your dog did that and knowone can blame your husband for being upset. Sorry you had to deal with that. |
