So very sorry to hear of the loss of your pup, Ginger.

I would have to have a necropsy performed so if it was something environmental, you can fix it and protect your other pup. And if it was an acute medical trauma, ie: ecoli, antifreeze poisoning, kidney failure, or congenital problem, You will have a better idea of why she passed and can stop feeling guilty, and start healing. And if it was something zoonotic, you can take steps to protect yourself and others (human and animal), in your household from becoming ill.
The sooner a necropsy is done, the better.

So sorry to hear about your little one passing. It is hard to lose any of these precious babies but maybe more so when it comes so suddenly. At least you know she did not suffer long and that she was truly loved during her short life.

You may find her brother goes through a mourning stage when he will act depressed. Give him lots of love and attention and he will get through this. My little male searched the house for a couple of days after we lost Sadie. He kept coming over to me and jumping at me like he does when he wants me to get up and do something. There was just nothing I could do this time. My heart goes out to you and your family!

I'm so sorry to read about your sudden and tragic loss of little Ginger. I know how devastating a loss of a beloved pet is. So sad...

I think too it may of been something outside. My yorkie got sick and all I can remember is going for a long long walk around a park two days before. She was extremely sick just like you mention. I rushed her to the vet and they told me she was "dying". Said it looked like she may of been poisoned, got into something she shouldn't of. From something outside to medication, even maybe chemicals in floor cleaner. Luckily they were able to save her, she had very soft stool too with a little bit of blood, Her mouth had little tiny blood clot looking dots all over.

Obviously, if she was 19 and active to the very end, you must have been doing everything right. All of us here hope our little ones will live as long and as happily.

So sorry for your loss. Maybe you should consider looking into her death further and have an autopsy.

Maybe I didn't type it right, but Ginger was only 19 months old; not 19 years. Yes, Buster (Ginger's male litter mate) is acting a littled depressed today. They used to play & wrestle all the time. Now, he is cozy up to our Maine Coon Cat (Tiger), looking for companionship we guess. I took 11 days off from work and my vacation comes to end this Monday. Not the way I planned my last few days.
The vet did mention arrithymia happening to her heart in the last few minutes of her life. She was a Type A personality; could jump like a pogo stick, always pulling at the lead. Buster is more come and relaxed. Thanks again to all the posters here on Yorkie Talk.
Now, my wife and I need some advice. We have been dog owners all our lives: cocker spaniels, Tzu, bassett hound, german shepards. We have almost always had 2 dogs in the house at the same time. We love the mid size Yorkie breed (7-10 pounds at adulthood). Buster weighs 7 lbs; Ginger was 8 lbs. Tea-cup Yorkie is not for us. The question is how or even if we should get similar Yorkie for our house ? Would Buster accept this ? Does anybody have experience introducing a Yorkie into the "pack" ? Yes, we are still grieving and won't make any snap decision's for a few months at least.
