I agree I think it's fine. I changed Lexi's name when she was 4 months. Her previous owners named her Princess :S. |
I wanted to change Stormy's name but she was already 1.5 years old and I couldn't think of a good name. Since she already had a name and was over a year old I thought I might as well just leave it. It suits her well! She's been through alot of "storms" "hard times" and has made it through!! |
My poor Coco has had like 3 names in her short 7 months of life. Everytime she was rehomed she was renamed so we decided to giver her our own name. We got her at about 6 months old. She has had a rough life but is doing well adjusting to a loving home. |
Decided Not To Change Mine... :animal-paWhen we adopted my "Neko"..He was just turning "5 years old". His previous owner had him from birth. She named him "Neko". Well, after adopting him and getting him home, we figured that he had alot to adapt to anyway so we just left the name. I personally don't care to much for it and wish that we could have gave him a name that we felt would match his personality. But again, with the name being "Neko" since birth and he was currently 5 years old already, and he had alot to get use to coming to a new home and all, we just left it. My next fur baby I guess we will have the pleasure of naming ourselves...lol:animal-pa |
When we first saw our Sampson his name was Brutus. My husband said he wanted to have his name changed to Sammy. He had no problems with his name change. We do see his original parents every so often and tfrom Alabama and they still call his Brutus. He still remembers them and is so tickled to see them. |
Zack's original name was "Brutus", then "Clyde" with the rescue group. We wanted another "Z" name to go with Zeke who was "Romeo" with the other rescue group. We got the guys when they were about 2 and 1 years old. They quickly learned their new names. |
Sam used to be listed as Cody. When I talked to Kim (his breeder) I let her know that I did plan on changing his name to Samuel Kirby calling him Sam, being the wonderful person she is.... She and her family started calling him Sam for me before I even picked him up!!!! How great was that?!!?!? Sam was already aware of who he was when I got there.:D |
re: did you change the pup's "given" name? The way I see it, you are paying for the dog, and they will become part of your family, so it is your choice of what to name them. Joey didn't have a name when we got him, but Tank's name was Tiki. The breeder started calling him Tank before we picked him up, so he knew his name when we brought him home. Just my 2 cents :) |
