I understand why you are so upset. I would be upset too. I am glad that your baby is safe and healthy. Animal control officer probably needs to pay them a little visit. |
O m g!!! ok so here is another update... she woke up PUKING this morning. She was on boiled chix and rice yesterday. Her poop has gotten a little better. not a green liquidy color. Now its light brownish yellow and more solid. She had puked all over my living room though this morning. I was following her around with a damp towel. It was mucus like and yellow. The first couple piles she trew up you could see the rice and some yellow stuff. She threw up like 13 times. I gave her a little nutrical and tried to get her to drink some water but she wouldnt drink.. sooooo.. Off to the vet we go!! I swear I am so angry at this kennel. I let everone know that had a dog outside yesterday to not take their dogs there. she is acting a little better now and hasnt thrown up for like an hour or so but i am still not gonna take any chances. I am gonna have them take a stool sample. PLease wish us luck. I can't believe this is happening. She has always been in such good health with the exception of a little constipation. |
Oh, poor Marley! I would never put my dog in a kennel, if i cant take my Yorkie with me in a vacation then i just dont go. |
Bless her heart! That is so horrible!!!! Please keep us updated on her. |
 Poor baby. I sure hope that Marley's feeling better soon. I would never leave my kids at a boarding kennel if I were gone. Thankfully I have friends that would be more that willing to take my kids in if I were ever to go anywhere. Good luck and hugs and kisses! |
I hope she is alright I would take the vet bill to the kennel also....keep us updated... |
omg if that happened to me i would have been cussing and yelling at the owner. i have zero patience for that kind of bullsh*t. NO ONE treats my babies that way! I'm sorry this happened to you. I'm praying your baby feels better soon. |
Update!!! Ok so the vet did a stool sample and blood work. He said her pancreas level ( don't really know what to call it ) was high but that could be from her throwing up so much. She was dehydrated and he tried to give her an IV twice but she tried to bite him. So he said he wouldn't give her an IV because she wasn't that dehydrated but just to make sure she got enough fluids. He gave me a syringe to force water if I needed to. He also said she has a bacterial infection. He gave me clavamox and some other pill he cut into 1/4 to give to her 2X daily. My poor baby. I hope she gets better soon . He also gave me some high calorie wet food so she gets the proper nutrients. I smashed her pill up into the food and sprinkled some shredded chix over it so she would eat it. Please keep us in your thoughts !! And thank you for all the support! I am going to see about getting a refund and having them pay my vet bill today. |

good luck!!!!!!!!! |
That is terrible, i would have been POd too. I have a young relative come to my house to stay with mine when i9 have to go out of town. I gladly pay her $100 for a long weekend and know that the kids are in their own environment. It's a win win situation. she can use the money and it saves me money, and I feel comfortable leaving them with her. |
Update Just got off the phone with the lady that manages the kennel. After all the complaints ( she wrote them down ) she said that she probably can't give me a refund! She said she was going to talk to her "people" and she should be getting back to me by the end of this week. I told her I wanted my vet bill paid and reimbursed for the services rendered. We'll see what happens. I told her that if I don't get reimbursed that I will take it further up the chain on base. I kept telling her I am not trying to sound brash or rude but I want my freakin money back! Geesh.. poor Marley. I hope she gets to feeling better! |

Sending prayers and positive thoughts Marley's way. I hope she's feeling better already, poor little thing...:( |
so sorry i am so sorry to hear that. it seems that some people have a lack of compassion for animals, and if that was the case with this place then it should not be open at all and the workers should be someone who enjoy there job. i am so glad that when i go on vacation or a weekend getaway i have my sister who has a s**tzu to watch Denzel. i think you should find someone who you can trust. its a good thing your baby is happy and good health:) |
Poor baby. I can't believe they didn't take care of her! That is outrageous! Mine all stay at home with my dad when we go on vacation. My dad lives with us and he knows how I take care of my babies. He gives the same love and care I do. The last time I went on vacation I had a really good friend of mine take care of my girls and their babies. My dad had the rest. I only leave them with family or really great friends that I trust!:aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |
Oh my god that is horrible should report her to whatever city you live in for animal abuse. |

So sorry this happened to Marley! |
BTW there are good boarding facilities. I left my JR and first Yorkie at one for 4 days once. My toys and dishes were kept with them, they used the food & treats I brought, my bag had dated baggies and the appropriate ones were gone when I picked them up, my dogs were bathed, groomed, and happy when I picked them up, they did answer the phone each day when I called to check on them, they had logs of every potty outing they got (6 per day), it was entirely different from the horrible experience you had. I also visited unexpectedly before I left them there. I saw the place in operation and it was all neat, clean, and being run like clockwork. The workers all seemed to genuinely love the dogs and gave them lots of attention. I got a "window" suite, with a little toddler bed for mine. They had lots of room to play and look out on the world. Course their lodging cost almost as much as ours, but it was worth it to know they were well spoiled. Just adding that so you might think about it again some day when you have other choices besides this place that let you down. |
Update!! sOooOO..... I talked to the lady at the kennel again. She told me that she talked to the vet here on base and even though he told her that the bacterial infection Marley contracted was the kind you get from a kennel that he couldnt say she got it from there.. WHAT THE HELL!!! So therefore no refund. She also told me the 3 days of playtime that I paid for were not rendered so she could only give me a refund for that. What a load of BS. I was on the phone with her for at least 15 minutes going around and around. To add insult to injury the lady even offered Marley to come back!! at a discount price! HAHA! What a joke. She said this because she insisted that Marley was a happy-go-lucky dog and had fun at the kennel and I could bring her back and see for myself. Makes me want to puke just thinking about taking her back the that hell-hole. I told her that I will never do business with them and that I will tell other people of my experience and she said " oh i understand, I have two cats and I know what if feels like to want the best care for your animals" yea yeah whatever.... So I went to the IG( Inspector General ) on base here. That is the equivalent of the BBB for the military and filed a complaint. I wrote out a loooong, point by point letter of why I want to be reimbursed and vet bills paid. The man I spoke with and that is dealing with my case said he understands because he has a dog too he considers family but nothing will probably come of it because we can't prove that she got it from there even though all red flags point to them. I am at my wits end. Even though nothing might come of this I want to make it known all over this base that the kennel is a piece of crap and to never take your pets there. He still said he will try his hardest to get something accomplished. He sent me all the paperwork to get started on this via email and I have started the process and spoke with the appropriate people. Wish me luck guys. I'm not even doing this for the money. I could care less. I'm doing this for Marley. |
I'm so sorry to hear about the awful experience. Yes, you have to trust your gut. Nobody loves our animals like we do, unless they are family. Maybe next time you can get a close friend or family member to come to your house to stay. That's what I'm doing for my vacation this year. Now, I realize just how fortunate I am that my son and daughter in law are coming here to keep the babies. I just can't imagine what you and your baby went through. So, so sorry. |
good luck me and denzel are praying for you please keep everyone updated :) |
I do hope your baby recovers well. Totally unacceptable. Well reading this thread has made me feel rather nervous as Im putting Tia in kennels this Aug for a week.Ive visited them twice and they fell in love with her and the owner carried her around and Tia loved her , in fact I didn't think the owner was going to hand her back. Anyway we checked it out and it was clean and the dogs looked well cared for. Asked lots of questions . I noticed one of the staff was brushing a dog and I asked do you offer a grooming service then ? and the reply was no but every year this dog comes to us in a poor condition and we do a full groom for free. I was quite impressed by that, and small dogs are seperated from the big ones. Ill let you know how we get on. Did your baby need to have the kennel cough vaccine? Most uk kennels require you to do so. I would send a review if they advertise their kennels but I just hope your baby has a full recovery. |
