How'd your babies do with fireworks? Madison had her first 4th of july. She growled at some of the noises while trying to sleep but other then that she was fine. Lexie my 5 yr old maltese has been shaking like a leaf for hours. She won't calm down until the noise stops :( how'd your furkids do? |
I am proud to say that Ella did great! She didnt even act like she noticed them after the first 3 or 4. She is good pup :) |
We didn't even get to shoot ours off since the storms won't let up. It's rained steadily since before dark:rolleyes: |
We live in the shadow of Angel Stadium where there's fireworks every night, so Uni was kewl! |
As soon as Misty heard the first firecracker this evening, she ran down the hall and crawled under my blankets and stayed there until the noise stopped. Now Mazie, cocker spaniel, stgarted barking and jumped on the couch to get on my lap, she weighs 31 pounds. I'm sure that we will hear those noisey crackers tomorrow too. Happy Fourth of July everyone!!! |
Mine did great! He just sat there and was like uhhh, how boring. They were boring compared to the thunder yeserday. The sound shook our house and didn't even wake him up. |
:p I was expecting for my new baby to be super scared.. but Lexy (6 months old) loved them!! hee hee.. and my 1 1/2 yr old bentley.. well he was ok with it.. at first he didnt really know what was going on.. but yey!! today 4th of july was a success  .. i was honestly expectin for them to be barking for at least an hr.. or so... :aimeeyork |
good Im so proud of most of your furbabies my lil one osito he been going crazy at it he haven't stop barking everytime he hear them he bark and bark I wonder why??? |
This is Gunnars first 4th. He was running around barking and looking out the big front window when the big booming ones and the screeching ones went off. the less noisy ones didn't seem to get him as excited. Fireworks aren't even allowed in our area, but some jerks just have to do them. He did much better than my chihuahua used to do. I used to have to give him doggie valium. Donna |
Roscoe did great! He even seemed to enjoy watching them if I held him. He so awesome! LOL |

The first yr. I had Roxie (2 yrs. ago) she did great and could have cared less about the fireworks. She's never been afraid of storms either. But not this year. We had to go to a family dinner for a little bit and were home just around dusk. My adult kids got to our house just a little bit before us and started setting off some fireworks. Plus all the neighborhoods around us were doing some too. The windows were cracked because it had rained all day yesterday. When I came in I couldn't find Roxie anyplace, she was in the back of the house in my bathroom standing there frozen and shaking. She could barely move. I'm so used to her running to me when I come home. I felt so sorry for her I picked her up and held her tight and closed all of the windows. She wanted to be outside with us so bad, so I held her and she would get shaky but at the same time was so curious as to what was going on. As long as I was holding her she was ok. Due to the rain they postponed our fireworks for tonight so it's going to be a repeat of last night accept maybe most people set off their personal stash last night. |
omg! poor lil roxie! I seriously thought about putting earplugs in Lexie's ears!! She shook even while being held for hours.:( what a blessing for those furbabies that did well! |
Everyone did just ok. I was at a party earlier in the evening and came home just before all of the noise started. There must have been some loud ones before I got home because we had some pee pee pads torn up. Anyway, everyone got a couple of drops of Rescue Remedy and we snuggled up on the couch at watched TV. I too had a little "rescue remedy" of my own. LOL!! |

Laci barked at the first couple big booms after that she slept right through, Im so happy they didnt seem to bother her... |
From sparklers to big boomers Cookie barked the entire time!!! You'd think she'd get hoarse after a while but nope, she barked at it all from her safe little perch on the porch. I don't think she was scared of them I think she was trying to protect us from the big evil fireworks!!! |
lola went crazy the whole time. i went to a friends house and all my neighbors said she was nonstop barking and crying until they stopped. |
It rained last night so we have them tonight. My Jewels is terrified of them |

My others kids used to be terrified oof fireworks and I would have to get sedatives from the vet. Alfie seams impervious to them. Last 5th Nov was his first and he seamed fine, even when somebody let a few off during the day and we were on a walk. Had some released about a month ago, I was in bed, Alfie barked a little but didnt want to rush down to check on Rosie incase she thought there was something to be afraid of. We've had quite a few storms the past few weeks and she either sleeps or carries on playing. The last one was really bad and Alfie disappeared, I found him sitting behind the curtain by the french doors watching the storm like a sideshow put on just for him.:bravo::lightning:lightning:cheer: |
The fireworks didn't stop until 3am this morning. Gizmo and Kandi only barked when it got really loud, but kept getting up a lot during all of it and checking the windows. We finally got to sleep after 4am. Whew...long night. |
Pixie was watching them at first lol!! My hubby got video of her watching them....it was sooo cute.... but she did not like the grand finale at all =( she climbed on my shoulder and hid her head.... |
My friends Pom hid in their basement and our Yorkie stayed in our arms. |

Hahahaha Judy so did Izzy. She is not afraid of them but oh my she barked almost the entire evening. I finally had to shut the windows to muffle the sounds. She barked the most at those ones that sound like whistles going off. I thought she would get hoarse too but not. She finally stoped around 11am and slept the entire night but I'm sure she will be barking again tonight when they still go off. |
My two older Tyler and Tiffany were shaking like a leaf under my bed.... but my younger ones Brody 10 months and Chloe 2 yrs were snoozing right through the fireworks. They are all so different :D |
London too was not afraid but the loud ones did shock her sensitive little ears. I put on music inside the house to mute out the fireworks noise for her. The fireworks show was at a park a few blocks away. I knew better than to take her over there to see them (because they are so loud). |
Mine did great, slepted like a log. |
It was raining here too, but I live in a mostly military neighborhood, so a little rain was no deterant! At first Harley went crazy running from door to door in the house trying to see what was going on. Then I took him out on our deck so that he could actually see them. I held him really close and after a couple of huge ones, he was perfectly fine. We had about 35 minutes of actual display fireworks but the smaller ones went on all night, they actually started Friday and I sure will continue tonight! I don't think he was scared though, I think he was in protection mode and once he knew that they were harmless, he came back inside and snuggled down for the night - in his Patriotic Pooch tee!
