Free Yorkies...How many have one? I was wondering how many of us have or have had FREE YORKIES. After reading The thread "Getting a free Yorkie" Posted by( scaggs )Who got not one but Two Free Healthy Baby Yorkies and reading so many others who have gotten a free Yorkie, I thought Id start a thread so we could all Post our Free Babies story and maybe a pictures of them. My First Yorkie was Free she never got over 2 1/2 lbs. her name was Taz. She was such a sweet baby. RIP TAZ. There were many other Free Yorkies that I could of took in . 6-7 from one breeder and 2 from two other breeders. and a little girl who was needing to be rehomed just a week ago. So There are so many out there. and it just warms my heart that so many have found wonderful homes. Not all people are bad in having to rehome their babies. Stuff happens and at least some of them dont dump them off at shelters but try to find them wonderful homes. So lets hear the story of your Free Yorkie Baby.:) |
My parents little boy Cole was. He is a doll and we are so lucky to have been entrusted with him. He makes them complete and they couldn't be more happier with him :) |
1 Attachment(s) Yes I think everyone is extremely happy for Scaggs. Sooo lucky!!! Well I had the opportunity as well, as I said before, so here's the short version. An elderly friend of mine's DH passed, and she couldn't take care of their yorkie by herself. I fostered him for about a month and found a wonderful forever family for him. his name is Chuy. He's two years old now. Here's his pic with Uni on bf's lap. Uni's on the left, Chuy's on the right. He is a tiny. |
1 Attachment(s) Heres a picture of Taz. I have some better ones of her but I need to scan them first. Shes a Yorkie/Maltese Mix. |
My puppy is "almost" free. All I have to pay for is for her current vet bill (tail doc and first set of shots/worming). Her mom was rescued by a family member and she doesn't want to make money off of the pups. I am very grateful for my little pup. The mom had 3 boys and 1 girl. |

I got Caoimhe for free. She was a not too well thought out gift for my sister from my mom. My sister was too busy to take care of a puppy so she gave her back to my mom. My mom was going to keep her as an inside outside dog (I know crazy). I had to beg her for Caoimhe and in the end she gave her to me, but with a few strings attached (working on cutting those strings). My husband and I were just talking the other day that we have only paid for two of our dogs since we have been married. We have always had pure breed dogs 3 Great Danes paid for one (rescued) other two free, English bull dog free, Boxer free, German short haired pointer free (found as a puppy. Had her for a while till we rehomed her.) Jack Russell paid for. |
Both of mine were free. Cricket was a birthday present from the breeder, who happens to be my sister. Zaccheus was being put down, on advice from the vet, due to his cleft palate. I said, "I'm on my way." and brought him home. After a L-O-N-G fight for his life, and an FHO later, he's my heart and soul. I can't imagine our home without them! |
I was helping a friend of mine get back on her feet. She was on leave from work from surgery and her daughter had been in a car accident and recooperating from it. She has 2 yorkies and one became pregnant (not planned). She wanted to pay me back, but I won't take it. She offered me a puppy, but I knew I would have to talk my hubby into it. He finally said yes and we ended up with 2 puppies. My hubby is just nuts over them. They sleep with us:D |
My mother in law was given a free morkie, when he was a year old. Sad situation but the dog is adjusting just fine! |

I have never had a free yorkie. I am willing to take a free yorkie though... does that count? |
On May 10th, 2009 We traveled to Arkansas to pick-up a now 17 mo spayed 9 lb. Yorkie girl. Her name is Sophie Kennedy. She was re-homed by a YT member for free. We got her @ our hotel @ 6 pm. She is absolutely adorable and has the sweetest little face. I'm looking for another little girl of some small breed to round the family out evenly since we have 2 boys. Sophie Kennedy is in my small Avatar... Thank-You Linda for Sophie...:) |
My first ever yorkie was free. He was supposed to be for my mom, he came from a litter a work collegue who's moms yorkie had a litter. I'd had to return a poodle I had from rescue as he was aggressive and my nephew was only about 2 and my mom looked after him while my sister was at work, so she gave me Rambo[ named by my younger sister] . He was a marvel, never had to wear a lead, learnt things really fast, he was my shaddow. He weighed about 12-15 pounds, my sister eventually rehomed his smaller brother, but he was no Bo. |
My Greta was rescued from a puppy mill by a dear friend. He had 7 other dogs & I told him that I had always wanted a yorkie, so he gave her to me. She was definitely the love of our lives, but unfortunately, we had to make a very difficult decision to put her down in March 2009 due to aggressive mammory tumors. I miss her terribly and I know that she will never be replaced, but we would love to adopt a new furbaby. |
My husbands cousin bred his two Yorki females, when it came to selling the pups, he couldn't do it. He let me pick out a pup and never would take the money. (Other family memebers got pups too!) I loved her for 16 years and then she passed away. |
My Reese was a gift from yt member mustangbee, Gina. :) |
Smokey was free. I was talking to my good friend and suddenly her mom wanted to talk to me, knowing that I already had a yorkie. She told me that her groomer/friend had a yorkie that desperately needed a home and has been shifted around from 4 different places and was only 6 months old. I got on the phone the next day and the day after that, Smokey was home for good :D October 30 this year will make 2 years since he got his forever home. |
1 Attachment(s) Agnes was free. Ralphie came from a "pet store" (before my YT days) and since he was so sick they offered me a free dog up to the price that I paid for Ralph (and I got to keep my baby Ralphie). I took Agnes and practically ran out of that store :p. I still can't believe that my sweet baby was free. She has really been a little blessing to us, and we can't imagine life without her :):) |
What a wonderful thread, so cheerful to hear stories about FREE lifetime loves |
If it wasn't for a free yorkie I would never be in yorkie love!!!! 4 Attachment(s) My Dax was free, I got him for doing a good deed. When I was in SC I found a standard poodle (never would have known he was a show dog) at the lake one day. He wanted to go with me and nobody claimed him so I took him and cleaned him up, I took him to the vet who scanned a microchip on him. The dog belonged to a lady who lived 30 minutes from me so I took him home. She had a litter of his pups and a whole room full of trophies he had won. Apparently the family was vacationing and one of the family members let him get out of the camper when they made a stop on thier way home, nobody ever knew when or how he got out. She wanted me to take one of his pups but when I told her I couldn't have a big dog she sent me to her sister in law who raised yorkies. I couldn't choose they were all so cute, every time I went over Dax crawled into my lap (I never knew it was the same puppy until the breeder told me I wasn't to pick a puppy because he had picked me). I was wanting a girl but took my little boy home and have been in yorkie love ever since. |
My Free Yorkie Wiggins: I purchase my first yorkie over 7 yrs ago, her name is Priscilla. Fell in love with the breed and wanted to start breeding these wonderful animals. We found a male to breed her too and proceeded to breed her. She turned out to be the best whelper ever, had Mr. Wiggins first, then a female my sister owns. Being the pups were at the time in my life when I was taking care of my mother, moving her out of a senior home to my house, I had no choice but to take the pups with me when packing up her apt. My Sister and I would take a puppy break, she played with her lil girl and I played with Wiggins. Long story, but I had him sold 3 times, but he said I am not going. When anybody looked at him he would turn his head away from them as if to say leave me alone. He then got to the point where he would take his little paw and push them away. I finally got the hint, he was not going anyplace and is my very loyal companion. Even though I have proceeded to exhibiting and breeding more, Mr. Wiggins is always my very best buddy. He has accepted all the others in the pack and will always be with me. What is that old saying, "the best things in life are FREE". |
Mine weren't free but it's wonderful to hear of families out there willing to give any dog a home and a great new start. God bless you all. Hugs Shirl x x |

My Roxie was free. My brother's fiance and her mom and brother were the previous owners. Her mom and brother up and moved to Florida quite suddenly, and my future sister-in-law moved in with my brother to an apartment building that does not allow pets. She didn't want to send Roxie all the way to Florida and never see her again. I said I would take Roxie until we figured out a better solution. Well, I am not giving her up now...she's here for the long haul! So glad I took her in! |
My Sophie was free. After she lost 5 of her 6 puppies due to a botched c-section at a new vet...she then rejected the 6th puppy and it had to be raised by another momma. My breeder never wanted to risk her rejecting another pup and she got along well with my Lexi already so she offered her to me. She's quirky and a little piglet for sure but she is very sweet too now almost 10. She is just so more pack oriented then Lexi coming from a home of many Yorkies even though she's been with me forever its so ingrained in her. |
My first yorkie, Maggie, was free. She given as a gift from husband to wife, they divorced and husband, at first, would not give her the dog. She finally got her, but shortly realized she did not have the time to give her. My son's friend got her, but again, only kept her for a week or 2 and then offered her to us. We had never had a small dog before, but hey, a free yorkie? We fell in love with her and the breed. Sadly, not as familiar and careful with a small breed dog as we now know to be, she got out one day and was run over. We think she was determined to get to that dog across the road she had been giving hell to for the last couple months. We only had her 6 months and my husband was devastated. So, I started looking and found my Harley and Isabel. They weren't free, but I would never had looked at the ad for them if it wasn't for little Maggie. |
One of the ladies at my work has a free yorkie. He is a 7lb sweet guy that we actually rescued from someone that was going to just take him to the pound because they didn't want him anymore. He didn't have anything done though and had to be fixed, heartworm checked and all his shots. She ADORES him! |
I have never regretted the money I have paid for 4 of my yorkies, they give me more love then any amount of dollars could give me. So do my yorkies that came from my breeding that did not cost me anything but love. So Free or paid for, they are just such a joy to own. |
I have never been offered a yorkie, but I was given a little Maltese about 2 weeks ago. I think that the people who got him wanted a tiny accessory and the novelty wore off:( Anyway I brought him home and cleaned him up, my sister came in while I was trimming his hair and begged me for him. He is her dog now and I love seeing how spoiled and loved he is after just being given away. I should take some pics he is a cute little boy:) |
