New guy with a 7 month old Yorkie! Greetings everyone! My handle is Chili Dawg and my little yorkie is "Zena Bandita Sebastian". She will be 8 months old on July 3rd. Been lurking around the site since December of '08 and finallly decided to take the plunge and post. When people ask me what type of dog Zena is, I tell them she is a Yorkie Terror! :D They don't really pick up on my play of words and is my little inside joke. Zena is anything but a terror. She is the perfect dog so far (now that she is toilet trained). She loves every human within site and will readily run over to say hello. We took her to two dog parks over the weekend. She did not play with any dogs, but greeted every human she could find instead! How funny! Zena was the runt of the litter of four females and at 8 weeks of age she weighed 1.8 pounds. She now weighs 7.5 pounds and is bigger than her three littermates! She even out weighs her parents, both of which weigh 6.5 pounds! To me Zena is the perfect size for our home. We named her Zena (after the Warrior Princess TV show) because she was so tiny but with a really big heart. The Bandita moniker was added because she will steal your shoes and socks every chance she gets. Sebastian is my partner's maiden name. One thing about her has us puzzled. She is still in her black and tan puppy colors at almost 8 months old. Her litter mates and parents are all very light with the typical bronze and blue coats. I'm hoping her coat will not get lighter for we love her puppy colors. Zena will sit in our laps for hours and will play with the grandkids all day long. She is the perfect dog so far. We could not have asked for a better one for she is the best dog ever (we've had poms and poodles and mini pins). Enough of my rambling for now. I look forward to interacting with you all. Gotta run! Zena just took off with my flip flop! Woof! ~Chili Dawg |

Eating plants must be a puppy thing...Momo used to eat plants in the house & we had to move everything up.:D You probably know already, but some plants are poisonous to dogs, so becareful. |

Hi, just wanted to welcome you to yt. |
Welcome Chile Dawg and Zena. My Bailey is a year and half now and he's still dark and tan. He also likes to chew on my house slippers. |
Welcome to YT!! I just had to smile at your stories of Zena - she sounds like quite a little character! She's so cute in your avatar, we'd love to see pictures, and hear more stories! :) |
Welcome to YT!!! You will enjoy it here........ great website!!! As far as Zena's color...... I am sure you will notice some change as she gets older..... esp if her parents are the "blue" and tan color. But it is fun seeing them go thru this stage. Our little Seymour is not as blue as our little girl Shelby, he is darker. It just depends on the dog! :) |
Welcome to YT! |
1 Attachment(s) Hi! :wavey: Glad to see you finally took the plunge and joined us online. :p Yogi has stayed the black and tan color, and we are thrilled! His older sister, Gracie Ruth (same parents-different litter) went silver, and is in fact still changing colors. Silly girl can't seem to make up her mind what color she wants to be, she's tried on nearly every combination. :D Boo is black and red, so it's nice to have 3 with their own unique individual color. Attachment 282193 Don't want to add to the worry of what these babies eat, (and don't they put everything in their mouths!) but please be careful with the peach pits. They are toxic to people and animals. I believe it's cyanide that is found in them, may be arsenic, but if I remember correctly it's cyanide. Either way it's not good. Zena looks like a real cutie, can't wait to see more pictures of her as she grows up! |
Welcome Chili Dawg & Zena! Say "hey" to your GF too! Glad you came out of lurk mode and decided to join in! I did the same when I joined many moons past. Helps to get the lay of the land before diving in. Your Zena sounds like quite a girl. I have a new thief in our house too -- Rocky Blue. He also has a thing for flip flops but really prefers the leather ones! Arrrgghhh! And don't let the least bit of tissue or paper towel be left around -- he will find it and shred it before you can say "Rocky -- no!" I worry he will think that is his full name. :welcome4: |

Hi and welcome to YT! I too have a larger Yorkie. She is 8 lbs. and 9 months old. She was 2.1 lbs when I got her at 12 weeks. According to the charts, she should have maxed out in the 5 lbs range. So much for that! Hope you have fun here! :welcome4: |
