Brush every day, you and your baby will get used to it and its a good "bonding" time, My baby hated it for ages but now he just stands patiently and waits for his treat at the end, but do it when Libbie is relaxed and a bit sleepy. |

As soon as Rhianna comes out of heat, I'm taking her to get the "puppy" cut . . .and then I'll start all over again as it grows in . . .I love her hair long and it grows so nicely, BUT, the knots are ticking me off . . .I brush her in the morning and at night . . .but it never fails that she gets knots under her belly and arms . . .:( |

Pin Brushes |
I'm happy to say as of right now.....he knots are gone! I brushed/cut/groomed them all out yesterday. Thanks for all your tips! It helped me a ton! |
We went through this when Reggie was a puppy. His first grooming they had to shave all his hair down really short because he was so matted. I don't know if it is because he is 1/4 Lhasa or not but his hair is soft and wavy, not wiry so it matts easily. Our groomer told us not to use a brush because that made the soft hair worse but to use a comb. We had 2 metal dog combs. One is a regular comb and the other is a flea comb. I comb any matts out I see with the regular comb and then go back over his whole body with the flea comb because it is good at removing debris and loose dead hair. The other thing we find is that keeping his hair cut short just works better because he bites his legs and matts the hair up on them when it starts getting long there. So he gets clipped every 2 mos. |
I am a retired hairdresser and the myth of not combing wet human hair is just that. Yes years ago with the brushes they had brushing wet hair was a no no but now we have wonderful pin brushes for our wet hair also. I treat my yorkies just like myself. A pin brush when wet and a natural boar bristle (human hair one) when dry. I never get any hair in the brush when dry. These brushes are pricey but a great investment for furbabies and yourself. The shine they give the hair is amazing. what is a boar bristle brush?? sorry |

I was going to say the same thing you beat me to it. She is right if she is still a puppy it is more likely puppy mats, it will get better. This is when her hair is going from puppy hair to her adult hair. It will get better. |
Oh god...I really home its just puppy mats. |
