Hello everyone im new and I have an important question! Hello, my little girl has been diagnosed with collapse trachea and it seems to be getting worse all the time. Has anyone had this problem mostly when there very excited? That's when she seems to do it the most, I've learned to help her out when it happens but the vet suggested I take her to a specialist which I probably will. Has anyone else had this issue and taken their baby to a specialist? I know she may need a surgery for it but I'm so worried for the costs.. if anyone has more info on it please help! Thankss |
Very informative. Hope it helps. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/my-...-sneezing.html |
Snap Hi. Im sorry I cant help here,my 8 month old little girl has the same problem, and I will be looking out for any advise also. My vet just said not to get her excited...huh,he obviously dont know much about yorkies, and that to operate is not a good idea at this stage as going under for the op isnt always good,I know what he ment........so what to do.........like you its a worry, and I shall be looking out for any advise given,I hope your little girl will be ok x |
My first yorkie was a rehome girl and the lady told me she had a reverse sneeze problem. That is all I thought it was and she never made the sound at the vets's so he just went along with the reverse sneeze dx. We lost her while she was at the groomers. I always thought they had gotten her overheated as it was a very hot summer's day and we later noticed cages out back of their shop. But, after I saw a video and heard the sound of a collapsed trachea, I think that was what she had instead of just a reverse sneeze. I believe she got over-excited at the groomers, and they probably used the grooming noose too tightly and that is how she died. I tell you this to make sure if you have your little one groomed, that they know the danger and agree NOT to use the noose. Make sure you have a good harness that does not put any pressure on her throat, no collars. |
Welcome to the YT family. Sorry I can't help with much info but there are furbabies here with the problem. Post this under Sick and Injured and you will have better responses. Good luck. |

I havent yet taken my Missy to a groomers, as here as well as over your area I expect, you have to leave the dog with the groomers, and I dont really want to do this,as I have heard some can be rather rough,so Id like to be able to stay, but know this isnt always possible.....so I have had a go myself,i.e. trimming and thinning her coat.......obviously Im not to sure about clipping her nails,I just to a little when needed. Yes obviously the noose couldnt have helped :(,and I have decided to use a harness.again that was hard to find as she got out of one of them, she now has an extra small that was intended for the car safety, but it fits lovely......again Im sorry for your little one......a different thing but I lost my cat when she went under for her spaying....they never had it happen before, and Id only not long lost my dog Ben at 17 :animal-pa |
I don't have any advice, although I'm sure you'll get more, but I just wanted to welcome you. This is the best place on the internet for info and support. Perhaps try searching in the Health or Sick/Injuried sections for posts about this. |
