Hi! I am a new 1st time Yorkie owner! I am totally in love with my new pup. :) I have named him Baxter and he is 9 weeks old! Just wondering if yall could recommend threads that might be helpful to me during my training. We are working on his potty training & it is very strange, he uses the potty pads very well when he pee's but he doesnt always use it when he poops. :thumbdown I am taking him out, SOOO much but for some reason he doesnt always poop outside. He will come back in and poop right next to the potty pad. LOL Maybe this is too early to be concerned. I find it strange that he uses it sometimes and others he won't. Has anyone used Petsmart for their training? I was thinking about starting that in 2 weeks. Thoughts? Thanks so much and I am so excited to find Yorkie Talk! :aimeeyork:):animal36:animal-pa:love: |

Hi and Welcome to YT!!!! You may want to check out the training section. Your puppy is very young, it will take time to potty train. Yorkies can be very stubborn about this, just be patient:) |

I was told he was born on 4/8, but to me he looks older. I saw his parents, he is definitely pure bred. I need to ask the Vet. I told her his age but she didnt say anything about it. He was 3.2 lbs 3 days ago. I got him and took him straight to the vet. I got him from someone who just wanted her dog to have one litter so someone in her family could have one. I only paid 300.00 for him. I wanted a yorkie but 1000.00 was just too much. I looked at a few priced that high and honestly, he and I bounded. So, I dont know. I guess I said all that just to say, I think he is older. |

Hello and Welcome to YT! Baxter is a cute little guy! Congrats! Stick with the potty training, he'll get it. He is just a baby and it does take time. :animal-pa |

:wavey::wavey::wavey::wavey: Welcome to our YT family! |
welcome x I bet your pup is cute |
Just want to say Welcome to YT! And Congratulations on your little guy! He is adorable. :welcome4: |
Cutie! He reminds me a bit of Jackson at that age. I got him at 9 weeks too. Jackson's ears went up at 4 1/2 months. |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk. Your little boy Baxter is adorable. And I love the name...lol My Baxter didn't totally potty train until he was 9 mos. old. Your baby is very young, so it will take time. I've never used Petsmart for training, grooming, etc. Honestly, I've heard too many disappointing things about them. |
Hi there and welcome to YT! Baxter is so cute ! Please wait until Baxter has had all his vaccines before taking him to get groomed professionaly, or starting him up in a training class . It is so important to make sure your baby is protected from these deadly virus's that can take the life of young puppies . treatment is extremely expensive if a pup catches parvo, and then there is no garentee that the pup will make it . |
Welcome!! Hope you enjoy Yorkie Talk! I know everyone here has helped me out so much with things! About the puppy classes--at 11 weeks I don't think you should take him. Usually they require all of their shots to be complete, including rabies, for their safety as well as the safety of the other dogs. As far as the classes there, it just depends on the trainer they have. Our PetCo recently got a new trainer who I just adore and will talk to during Puppy Play Group and she's great, but the one they had before I didn't like and she didn't seems to like small dogs so I wouldn't have gone to her classes. |
just wanted to welcome you. |
Welcome to YT fellow Texan. Are you near Dallas? Where did you find this gorgeous baby. So cute and if you have any questions there are lots of people with lots of information...Good Luck |
hee hee.. cute puppy!!! lexy my female yorkie her ears didnt go up until she was about 3 months... but floppy ears are wonderfull 2.. =) :aimeeyork give it a lil bit of time and hopefully his ears start goin up...and the potty training.. mmmm my female does the same .. she will pee in her potty training pads but when she poops its 50/50 if she will or not poop in the pads.. what I started doing was giving her a small lil a day for poopin in her pads and so far last nite and today.. her poop was in the pads.... I gotta admit our fur babies!! are super smart hee hee.. :p |
Welcome to the YT family..... There is probably more info about potty training than any other thing here on YT. So if you look, you'll find all kinds of information, ideas, suggestions and lots of crying. lol Mine's ears were going up at two months. Just curious, but why do you doubt his age? Don't mean to be rude, I was just wondering. |

Oh no, I dont think it is rude. :) Just because I see other pups at 8 or 9 weeks and they are so tiny. He is tiny to me at 3 lbs. lol I dont know, maybe he is only 9 weeks. Also, the owner gave me pics of him and said they were taken 2 days before I picked him up. His ears were floppy in those pics. Now, they are kinda perky. :D Whatever his age, I am in love with him & he is getting spoiled! hehe Thank you, I will start searching the bulletins. |

VERY GOOD POINT! The vet probably would have told me. I take him for his second booster in 1 week. Thanks again, I definetely want him to be protected from all diseases. |

Welcome Welcome, My Kodak's ear's went up then went back down and never went back up again.:) They told me I left to much hair on his ears and they weighed them down. He's adorable, floppy ears and all. Your Baxter is a cutie pie. When I started taking him outside, I put his poop from inside in the grass so he could smell it when we went out. I had to be patient and keep him out long enough to use it. I even tossed a ball around to make him play outside then he would stop and pee, then he would poop. Everytime he pooped on the pad, I put it outside in the grass, lol, it worked to. I then had to notice the tell tell signs of watching him run fast in a circle looking to pee or poop. I then took him right outside and I gave him a tiny treat once he used it. Try to keep the pads confined to one area. If they see a pad in each room, they think they are free to pee anywhere in the house. I took other's advice on here and tried not to let them in another room until after they used it outside or on the pads first. Good luck! |
:welcome4: Welcome to Yorkie Talk!! Your little guy is a real cutie! You will find a lot of very caring and knowledgeable people here. |
