I love Munchie but im getting so tired of picking up dog poop!!Especially in my room! I just don't know what to do to make him use the bathroom outside or on his wee-wee pad. I even sprayed this spay on the wee-wee pad to make the sent stronger for him to want to use it. Sometimes at night he uses it but other than that its "ima just use the floor to do my business". I bought a wee-wee pad holder for him to step on so he could tell the difference between the floor and where he needs to go but he likes to sleep on it:rolleyes:. I also take him outside many times during the day and when he uses it i praise him or give him treats. Can some one please help me out cause right now its going to be stay in the crate until I let you out to go do your business. |
Keep him confined it his crate when you are not able to watch him. Or get an expen and put his bed food water and wee wee pad in it. Puppies need constant supervision or they will definitely go in places they aren't supposed to go. They don't know any better. He will get the hang of it, it just takes time. Just keep taking him outside to potty often and keep praising him. He sounds like a real sweetie. |

You need to be taking him to the pad every 30 minutes or so untill he gets it, then increase the time as he gets older. Offer him treats or praise every single time. It took Tucker untill he was almost 7 months old before he stopped having accidents and I was (and still continue)taking him outside every hour to hour and half while he was awake. You need to be consisitent. It takes alot of time and patience to train a dog. Yorkies are known to be "hard headed" and "hard to train". I have read on here that some people's yorkies still have the occasion accident in the home even after being trained for years. He is just a pup and it will be months before he is completely trained. |
Gosh, you've just had him a few weeks haven't you? I don't know how much research you did before choosing a yorkie, I know you asked a lot of questions, but sometimes we don't ask the right questions, and important information isn't given. That why reading other people threads comes in handy, they ask questions, we didn't even think about. Yorkies are hard to housebreak, harder than most breeds. I would say don't expect 100 % until the age of 6 months, and that's if you do everything correctly. Some yorkies are easier than others, and some poop 5 minutes after eating so you just take them within 5 minutes after eating and they're trained. Others aren't so easy, and some dogs like a separate pee and pooping pad. You have to look at signs your dog gives before he poops, some circle or walk back and forth; you can place them on a pad or take them outside. I have to laugh because I took off work when I got each of my babies so that I could ease them into their new home and start the potty training. Let me just say that 6 months would have been wonderful!!! :D But honestly, both of mine took a very long time (about a year) to get really trained and they still have the occasional - "oops it just slid out Mom!" Yorkies are the hardest dogs I've ever had to potty train but they sure are worth it. |

Good luck Yorkies are tough when it comes to housebreaking. All of mine are "forgetfully housebroken". :rolleyes: :D I honestly think that my guys will always be this way. Tammy |

Sasha was the same way. I don't think she was fully 100% until she was a little over a year old. She rarely has accidents, but maybe 1 every couple of months or so. It was definitely a challenge, but like you said, once they're trained, every bit of it was worth it in the end. |
First you have to decide if your pad training him or outside training him. you cant do both at the same time youll confuse im. If your pad training him you need to keep him confined to an area with his pad. If you are outside training him you confine him to the crate but take him olutside to go to the bathroom every 30 mins. Reward with treats when he goes where you want him to |

You need to have PATIENTS. Muchie 2 is a baby and it may take up to a year to really get him trained. Dont ever punish. Dont give him the run of the house. As soon as he wakes up you need to take him out or put him on the pee pad. |
