| ![]() My area is very remote and most people buy puppies online, like I did. There have been a few people that have bought pups off websites like Puppiescrosscanada.com and puppyofyourdream.com and the pups ended up dying and then they were ignored by the seller who is selling the poor sick pups. These sellers should be shot in my opinion..anyhoo, one lady who recently lost her pup started a group warning people about one of the above websites..I left a comment there today hoping it may possibly help people looking for a puppy..can you read the below comment and tell me if my points are valid? Thanks so much.. For those looking for a puppy online. First there is no such thing as a "teacup" or "pocket" puppy/dog..this is a name made up by irresponsible breeders to make more money because, for some reason there are people who whould prefer a very tiny dog. Those "teacup" dogs are usually runts they breed to get a dog as small as possible, these dog generally are sickly, be prepared in most cases to have large vet bills if you get a so called "teacup" If a breeder is advertising pocket or teacup puppies stay clear of them!, a reputable breeder will not use these words. Also, before buying a puppy get pics and video if possible of the puppy and the parents, where the puppies stay etc. Don't be afraid to ask questions, a reputable breeder will likely want to ask you questions as well. Brokers are third party sellers that buy from breeders and sell to pet stores or have websites like Puppy of your dreams, these are usually from puppy mills and backyard breeders..do your research.

Thor's Human Donating Member | ![]() I think you brought up excellent points! I'm glad you are helping to warn people away from heartbreak. Have you checked out where the warning group shows up in Google Search? Hopefully it comes up right under the main site. Is this site for yorkies only? Because I believe "teacup" is actually a recognized description for poodles. I think they have "toy" and "teacup" sizes. I am not sure if any dog has a "pocket" category, that seems a little much!

| ![]() Thanks for posting this information again. I went to see some cute puppies and when I asked to see the parents she said, "Oh they are not here. I am selling them for a friend." That could have been true but I would never buy from a someone I suspect is buying them from a puppy mill and re-selling them. |

There are no teacup poodles either. My grandma of course insists she had one for years, lol, so it is very hard to convince her otherwise. There is no recognized "teacup" anything, I believe.

| ![]() Interesting. So scary. I purchased my puppy by an online search-before I found Yorkie Talk and to be honest it makes me really nervous. I didn't see the parents-don't know where they are raised-inside outside??? I didn't know to ask these questions. The breeder does have a website. She has good reviews from past clients. They come with a health guarantee, shots, worming, tails docked, dew claws removed. The normal stuff. She will not let them go to a new home until minimum 10 weeks without exception. The puppies are dual registered AKC and ACA. She has sent me pictures every week since we put down the deposit. I know that the puppies are handled-she says they are very social. It is VERY scary though. My sister once bought a puppy that was supposed to be a Pomeranian with papers. It turned out that it wasn't and it was a real mess. I called several other breeders who advertised Yorkies and requested pix-they had no website just an online ad and steered clear of them-knew that it wasn't a good idea at all even if they were less expensive. But this site seemed fine. I wish that I would have requested pix of the parents. I know that both parents are about 5 pounds. My little pup weighed 1-8 and 8 weeks so the breeder predicts 4 1/2-5 pounds which from what I have researched seems a good estimate. I have read all of the posts on baby doll face vs. teddy bear face...I just hope that I made the right decision when it comes to where I purchased my Yorkie. |

| ![]() I commend you on trying to educate people on this. Many people, like myself included -didn't or don't know about stuff like this. Some of them might and just don't care, but many are just ignorant about it and need to have people like you inform them. Kudos to you!! ![]()

So if she was selling for a "friend" why couldn't she go take pictures or have her "friend" do it? Honestly, some people! It is hard to believe that some people will fall for this. | |
