For anyone taking umbrage about the word "anomaly" -- do you know what it means? Here is a definition: "Deviation or departure from the normal or common order, form, or rule." Nothing sinister or insulting -- just a word that very accurately describes the parti, golden, and chocolate Yorkies. I think they are all beautiful! I am partial to the yorkie standard as that is what drew me to the breed to start with. My first Yorkie had a wave to her hair -- that too, is an anomaly! I had her spayed and loved her very much. I had not followed the thread and just caught up. I was surprised about the sudden displeasure with the word anomaly. Go figure! BTW the reason the black and tan are not anomalies is that they are NOT disqualifications. It reads "The Yorkshire Terrier whose coat is of prime importance has a slow metamorphosis from the black and tan puppy to the blue and tan adult. Some of these dogs take three or more years for their coat to mature; therefore our YTCA Members chose NOT to specify an age for color maturity. Only dogs of solid color, unusual combination of colors, and parti-colors should be disqualified. " So, a dog that is black and tan can still compete as there is not age for colors to change. I think a light gold will make it through as there is a subjective view as to when the tan will be called gold. But the solid colors and parti-colors are disqualifications and thus anomalies. |
I just purchased my chocolate yorkie and he is perfect. |

:eek:Man! ths thread has really upset me.. U can't breed the goldens??? Why don't breeders tell you this when u buy them? I mean... i guess i shldve done my research prior, but still. I didn't buy her necessarily to breed, but i figured i wanted her to experience motherhood once and my mother wanted one of her pups. she hasn't had any health problems so far. She is very smart and besides needing some teeth removed, is doing quite well. she couldn't help that she was born golden right? doesn't she deserve the same as any other yorkie? This seems to be slightly racist where it concerns dogs, dont ya think? |
i have a 5 month chocolate and he is wonderful and very healthy.i have posted a few pic if you would like to veiw |

As far as racist I don't think so, you need to keep the breed true. PS; I have a red yorkie so it's not that I have the perfect yorkie she is only perfect to me:D |
