when i have my dog, i would NEVER.... milu is my first dog, before i got her, i always really disliked dogs begging for people food. so i used to say to myself and others all the time. when i have a dog, i would NEVER feed it ANY people food!!!!!! :thumbdown:thumbdown that was my pet peeve!!! BUT! NEVER say NEVER.... i ended up with the pickiest eater ever, milu doesn't like dog food! granted, i never known dogs could be as picky as she is about food...(in fact, i have never met a dog who was picky about food before) what did you say you would NEVER do? |
when I have my dog, i would NEVER buy a dog clothes....... But I was the first to buy him a harley t shirt....... |

Mine would be give people food also. But I am quilty of doing it. My Grandpa had a dog that was very overweight because he gave it people food. Thats why I said I wouldnt do it. |
Let him sleep in the bed with me and my DH. Guess what, he sleeps right in the middle of us and I wouldn't want it any other way! LOL!:animal-pa |
Let him sleep in bed with me. |
Sleep in my bed, or constantly be on the furniture  That didn't even last the first day. |
There are a lot of requests for confessionals this week! :D For me, it was treating a dog like a baby. Unecessary clothes, unecessary toys, doggy daycare. Check, check, and check. |

Mine is more of an "I will ..." I said I would let my friends play with her as much as they wanted because I could play with her all day. But when they would come over, I would get super protective and want to play with her more. :p |
I swore this time around I would not give my dog table food..... and I've actually stuck to that rule (and Tatum is 5 years old). I previously had a toy poodle and for a couple years we lived next to my grandparents. My grandpa watched him during the day while I was at work and he always fed him off the table. He actually would sometimes put his own toy poodle on his lap to eat the leftovers straight from his plate! :p When we moved away, Dax (my poodle) was at least 7 lbs. overweight (he should have only weighed about 7 lbs. and ended up at 14 lbs.!) and had knee problems. Once he got on a good dog food, he did lose the weight and then only very rarely did he have a problem with his knee. And of course, even though I tell people not to feed Tatum, my dad one time gave her a lick of cherry pie filling off his finger. You know that dog would beg from him every time he came over. She never before or after that would beg from anyone else but we finally broke her again from begging from him. She's so good about it that her favorite spot to chill is on her back on my lap at the dinner table when we are just sitting around the table after we finish eating. She doesn't even attempt to get at my plate on the table. I will admit it is hard though to not offer her table food! ;) |

the first time i gave in to giving milu people food is when we are having dinner. she cried, i ignored her. and then she started performing all the tricks she knows. (sit, down, spin, play dead, ...etc.) i still ignored her. and then she went to her pee pad, and squeezed really hard and peed. then i caved. i just thought if she wants it THAT bad, then i guess i should give her a little bit... probably a bad move on my part. but i am weak! :p |
LOL That is too hilarious! What an adorable pup! I've only taught mine to sit, but she will sit just the same whenever we're eating, and of course I do cave. |

That is hilarious that she knows just how to make mom happy! I was laughing out loud at your story. Yes, we've been able to stick with it but after having to deal with so many issues of Daxton's because of his weight, it really made an impact on me. Another problem of his was his teeth and I think that was caused by his only eating canned food. That's what my grandpa fed him and he wouldn't eat anything else after we moved. When he passed away at 15 years old, he only had maybe 5 or 6 teeth left. He was fairly healthy though and definitely happy up until the end. He just taught me a lot of things that I should have done differently. ;) |

milu doesn't have a weight problem. well, maybe she does, she is too skinny i think. i know it's bad to feed people food. but i feed very little. and we also brush her teeth. so hopefully it's not too unhealthy for her. :) |

When I have my dog, I would never let him potty on washable pads, talk to him by using baby talk, and give him people food. Well, I broke all these rules. :D |

I don't know how I ever did it...Before I got Chester, I used to dogsit for my best friend when she went out of town. I used salad tongs to give her dog treats. I thought they were disgusting and didn't want to touch them. I also had to wash my hands anytime I touched or pet the dogs. Man, what was I thinking? Clearly I had to get over that petty stuff with Chester. ;) DF said under no circumstances would Chester sleep in our bed. I wanted him to, but I was willing to abide with his rule. Our first night though, who does he bring to bed, but Chester! Silly boy. |
when I have my dog I would never... stop going abroad-oops lol |
I would NEVER fall head over heals , completely in love, smitten by a DOG! ;) YEAH right. Along comes my first little puppy ever, a yorkie. She took over my HEART instantly . I'd never spoil a dog either, or let her lick my face whenever she wants, and jump all over me! (cough, cough) Suzi again got me on this one! I'd never always buy Stinky bones made out of a ***** each week for a little dog! AGAIN , she WINS, just because i love her so much and enjoy watching Suzi with her coveted bully stick ! I'd never thought I'd feel separation anxiety , leaving my Yorkie by herself while going somewhere. Who knew that I would be the one to feel badly? as she watches us throgh the window getting into the car. It hurts my feelings. I'd never thought I would share my favorite Hagen Daz Ice cream with my yorkie, let her lick the bar, and then lick it after her> ANd think it's PRECIOUS:) |
