Is This a Yorkie? Hello all! I'm new to this forum, I was looking to ask the opinion of the Yorkie community about a certain adorable pooch I recently saw. Last night I was up late and watching Reno 911 (yes, it was actually the best thing on tv at that hour:rolleyes:) and glad I did, because I saw the dog in the below clip. She has to be the cutest Hollywood k9 I've seen in quite some time (roll over, Lassie). For several years I worked at an animal shelter and it bugs me that I'm not exactly sure of this breed! I have never seen a floppy-eared Yorkie that looked quite like this, and with that haircut. Is this a pure Yorkie, a Yorkie/poodle x, or am I off the mark entirely? (note: although Reno 911 is usually racey, this clip, surprisingly, is not :D) <table style='font:11px arial; color:#333; background-color:#f5f5f5' cellpadding='0' cellspacing='0' width='360' height='353'><tbody><tr style='background-color:#e5e5e5' valign='middle'><td style='padding:2px 1px 0px 5px;'><a target='_blank' style='color:#333; text-decoration:none; font-weight:bold;' href='http://www.comedycentral.com/shows/reno_911/index.jhtml'>RENO 911!</a></td><td style='padding:2px 5px 0px 5px; text-align:right; font-weight:bold;'>Wednesdays 10:30pm / 9:30c</td></tr><tr style='height:14px;' valign='middle'><td style='padding:2px 1px 0px 5px;' colspan='2'><a target='_blank' style='color:#333; text-decoration:none; font-weight:bold;' href='http://www.comedycentral.com/videos/index.jhtml?videoId=228832&title=witness-protection'>Witness Protection</a></td></tr><tr style='height:14px; background-color:#353535' valign='middle'><td colspan='2' style='padding:2px 5px 0px 5px; width:360px; overflow:hidden; text-align:right'><a target='_blank' style='color:#96deff; text-decoration:none; font-weight:bold;' href='http://www.comedycentral.com/'>comedycentral.com</a></td></tr><tr valign='middle'><td style='padding:0px;' colspan='2'><embed style='display:block' src='http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:cms:item:comedycentral.com:228832' width='360' height='301' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' wmode='window' allowFullscreen='true' flashvars='autoPlay=false' allowscriptaccess='always' allownetworking='all' bgcolor='#000000'></embed></td></tr><tr style='height:18px;' valign='middle'><td style='padding:0px;' colspan='2'><table style='margin:0px; text-align:center' cellpadding='0' cellspacing='0' width='100%' height='100%'><tr valign='middle'><td style='padding:3px; width:33%;'><a target='_blank' style='font:10px arial; color:#333; text-decoration:none;' href='http://www.comedycentral.com/shows/reno_911/officers/rizzo/index.jhtml'>Joe Lo Truglio</a></td><td style='padding:3px; width:33%;'><a target='_blank' style='font:10px arial; color:#333; text-decoration:none;' href='http://www.comedycentral.com/shows/videos/reno_911/index.jhtml'>Funny Cop Videos</a></td><td style='padding:3px; width:33%;'><a target='_blank' style='font:10px arial; color:#333; text-decoration:none;' href=''></a></td></tr></table></td></tr></tbody></table> |
Sorry the "imbed video" feature did not work, I will edit to include the website link shortly! Edited to add: Yuck! I can't remove that glob of mumbo-jumbo out of the post! Well, here's Comedy Central's website link to the clip: Witness Protection | RENO 911! | Comedy Central The "star federal witness" the cops are protecting is the dog :) |
LOL it looks like a yorkie mix possibly a shorkie. So cute |
The ears are too big to be a yorkie. It looks like a yorkie cocker spaniel mix to me |
that is a very cute dog:) I would guess Mario has Cocker Spaniel in him with Yorkie. |
Dang cute little whatever-it-is :D When I first saw that she kind of reminded me of a cocker with those ears... It's like you can almost pick a definitive breed. but then you look again and go... ??? |
Shorkie...s**tzu/Yorkie mix. I think so anyway. I have a Shorkie but she is still a young one yet. That is a older looking dog. But I think I see s**tzu in those eyes. How adorable. Could have Cocker too. Carol and Jemma |

Oh my goodness that is a cute dog! Looks like she has a lot of yorkie in her but cut like a schnauzer. The ears do look very cocker though. |

My Shorkie still has a tail, no docking. That poor little thing must be wondering what they were trying to do to his/her butt. I know what I would have done if someone picked me up and lifted my tail. Let ir RIP!!! Carol and Jemma |
There is more of this dog in that episode that they don't have on the web- there's a scene where someone calls the hotel and the officers whip out their guns to protect the dog from assasination :) I think it will air again on Friday night, hafta tape it... anyway, during the show they roll the dog over and poke her belly to see if she's eaten evidence- then you can tell it's a girl ;) Bet "Mario's" one of the cast or crew's dogs, hehe... |

Can't tell if those ears are 'real" or just hair- I think we should all get ahold of shih tzus and do some experimental grooming to see if we can get the ears to look like that :D Now here's an idea I had- does anyone think the dog could be a lhasa x yorkie? I've never even heard of that mix... hafta google some more! (frankly, I can hardly tell a shih tzu from a lhasa anyway- SHHH!) PS- OOOH, a Corkie! Never seen one as an adult, I gotta look at your pictures... |
She is so precious. |

No problem :) I think a part of me worships this cute little tv dog for no reason at all- except that it's that cute! ;) |
