Yes I would definately ask more questions. |
Yea im going up there tomorrow to talk to them! |
Please do, I think we are all worried that we would sound like we are coming off harsh but it is odd to (at least me) that the Vet would be keeping your baby for so long for what really doesn't sound like any huge illness. Also, i'm not sure where you got this dog from but if there is a problem that your contract protects you against with the breeder you purchased the dog from there is probably a time frame in which it would have to be reported. I hope that everything works out great, that your puppy is very healthy but it worries me that the vet is keeping him. If you aren't sure what questions to ask... just ask us and we will supply you with plenty. :) |

1. would be what do they feel is wrong with him? And what are they using to treat him (meds? iv?) 2. If they are only treating him with meds, then why can't you treat him at home? 3. Is someone at the vet's 24/7 watching the animals in their care? From what I gather your baby is very young and there is always the chance of a hypo episode with these little ones, if he isn't on an iv and is ill and no one is there watching how will they prevent this from happening. I know there are more questions, just all I can think of at the moment. I'm sure others who are concerned will post some as well :) |

At the very least vet should not have a problem with you visiting Munchie everyday if you want or should have a very good explanation as to why not. If you can see him you'll feel better & have a chance to monitor the situation for yourself as well as a chance to ask more questions. You'll feel less helpless than you are now. It's terrible not knowing, not understanding. You are paying vet for a service & you have the right to have your questions answered to be informed of what you are paying for. The more you know, the better you will be at knowing what to ask next. The more you know the better you'll be able to care for him when he gets home. Remember... there are no dumb questions. Ask away! We'll all be thinking about you! |
Why giggle, it is a cute name. :) |

Veterinary services are not cheap and they should be offering this to you without asking. I'd also suggest asking them to give you an update before you see Munchie (great name) so that you aren't distracted by her and you can give her your full attention when you do see her. Good luck - hope she is back soon. |
You have every right to ask the vet to give explain excatly what is going on with your new puppy. I am so sorry he is sick. Keeping your baby for that long of time in the hospital is going to be very expensive, and this is why I was really worried that he was seriously ill. It's been my experience that Vet's only keep animals for only as long as the animal needs to stay, and only when the animal is very sick :( The vet is supposed to tell the owner what is going on and why it is neccessary to keep the puppy in the Hospital and what knind of treatment the pup will be recieving. My vet gave me a paper and it had all the tests , and prices estimate on it, when Suzi was going to need to be in the Hospital. He told me everything , and what to expect, and if she were to become sicker what they would do for her. My thoughts and prayers will be for Munchie today. I feel bad you just brought him home, and he is not well. If you had a contract with you breeder, I would certainly be in contact with her as well. Cathy |
I'm sorry your little one is in the hospital. I hope that he will be home with you soon. I would just, as others have said, keep asking what is it that they think might be wrong with your little. Make sure that you fully understand all the medical jargon as sometimes doctors just ramble on thinking that everyone knows what they are saying. Good luck and sending good thoughts for Munchie--love the name! :) |
I was just checking in to see if you have any new news? |
Thank sooo much guys. I went to see him today and he is fine. They have him on antibiotics and he will be coming home tomorrow!!!!! |
So happy to hear that. Glad Munchie is feeling better. Please get pictures and post as soon as you can so we can see this little fella. I bet he is adorable. |

Glad he's coming home tomorrow! :getwellso And I LOVE his name. |
Oh what a relief! I've been checking for messages from you alllll day. I was getting really worried. So happy little Munchie is coming home. You must be ecstatic. Finally you'll get to kiss & hug on him. Now I can go to bed with a smile on my face. : ) I'm sure it won't be as big a smile as you have though. Now be sure & let Munchie have plenty of recuperation time before you go off on adventures. His little body has been through a lot & needs time to finish healing. Puppys need lots of naps, so be sure he gets them. Good luck & enjoy all the cuddles. I like his name too! : ) |
I'm so glad that Munchie is doing better and will be coming home tomorrow. :) |
Any pictures of Munchie? |
