Callies papers say its docked but its longer then a stub and shorter then full tail but either way I like it :D |
Its unnecessary in my opinion...people will say that it is to 'avoid tail injuries' but i think they use this as an excuse to justify their actions because deep down they know that it is wrong...they will also say it is done for 'hygeine reasons'...if Pixie has ever got messy around her back-end, it is never on her tail, it will end up on the hair down her back legs...and i'm not going to have those removed!:p:rolleyes: I have watched many a docking video where the puppies are so obviously squealing in pain..it just breaks my heart...we all love and cherish our furbabies and want to protect them from pain so why would you want to cut parts of their bodies off just to make them look 'cuter' or 'prettier' to our eye? I just don't understand this at all...and i'm not posting this to rattle anyones cage...its just my total honest opinion.;) I for one think the yorkie looks wonderful with a full tail held high in pride and confidence..and the sooner the Top Show Yorkies around the world are being shown with a complete tail, the sooner everyone will accept it...I'm very very happy it is banned here in the UK.:) |

And while you might say it is the AKC standard, I think its time they changed the standard, the same way the UK did. Dogs were born with a tail for a reason. Would you start cutting off other body parts of your pup to make it look better? I very much doubt it! In all honesty I think it is animal cruelty. How do we know what they can feel at 3 days old or whatever age they get it done. |
I have posted this many times on here....http://www.dogtrainingireland.ie/doc...prohibited.pdf |
Roman's tail is docked and I like the little stub wag. Mallie's is docked too, but her puppymill "breeders" (she's a rescue) obviously did not know what they were doing because her tail is probably twice the size of Roman's. But her tail is cute too. One of Roman's yorkie friends, Quincy, from my work has a full tail. His is real cute too. So anyone see a pattern developing?? I just really don't care about the tails...as long as they can wag it when their happy/excited that's all i care about! |
Mika has a wonderful full tail and I am so glad that he didn't have his tail docked as the pain for him would of been terrible, they are only babies for god sake. I'm really glad the UK banned it. If a dog is born with a tail what gives us the right to cut it off? |

So your Mallie's 'breeder' 'didn't know what they were doing' when they docked her tail? well she's lucky to have survived...take a look at the Tail Docking Report i posted above...and look at the pictures of those poor puppies that died when their tails were cut off with a stanley knife....obviously done because the 'breeder' thought the puppies wouldn't be sold for a good price unless they had that docked look. |
Jasmine's tail is docked. |
Coco and Pebbles tails are docked (it kills me to think of the pain they endured) Trixie has a full tail. I must say it is really cute when Coco and Pebby come running and their whole but is going back and forth. :p But Trixie and her tail... We call her "tailie girl". Love her tail. She is a bigger yorkie so the tail looks perfect. I couldn't see her with a docked tail. besides she cools us off in the summer with that tail wagging all the time.HAHA Either way I LOVE my babies.!!!!! |
I agree with you wholeheartedly!!! :D There are a lot of things that are done in this world to improve looks *coughcircumcisioncough* without impoved health benefits. Couver has his tail docked, it's cute, but I cannot imagine the pain he went through for it. I hope that it becomes illegal here as well! Quote:

1 Attachment(s) Attachment 277477Tia still has hers and I love it lol |
Josh's tail is docked, because it is the standard for the breed. I do enjoy seeing Yorkies with a tail that is not docked. I think they look so cute with their long tail. |
16 years ago when I got Tink, it was "acceptable" or probably expected. She looked cute and was a wagger, so would probably be a bit of a liability with it - just in a good way! Bluebelle's (same breeder) is not docked and I love it! It's like a toy she carries everywhere - it amuses her for ages....if only she could sneak up on that darn thing! |
