Cesar Millan vs. Victoria Stillwell? Who you prefer? Dog Whisperer's Cesar Millan or It's Me or the Dog's Victoria Stillwell as trainers? :D Personally, I really honestly love both. I enjoy both of their shows and learn SO much from both of them. I think they're two different trainers yet more alike than most think. They both preach about leadership and the human owner being at the top of a food chain of sorts. No eye contact, no touch, type thing they both speak about. I like Victoria because a lot of the stuff she teaches can easily be done in ANY one's home and owners can practice. Alot of the things Cesar teaches are hard to do without HIM because a lot of times he will bring dogs to his center full of mild, calm, submissive pack members but not everybody has the advantage to bring their dog around other calm dogs! However, if I HAD to pick... I think I'd pick Cesar over Victoria. Cesar just seems to have more of a "way" with dogs and communicating with them. He's not about teaching them to do tricks and lay down, etc but more so about learning to become a pack leader and "communicate" with your dog. I have truly learned so much from him and since the day I brought Jackson home at 9 weeks old, I have been practicing some of his methods, especially about the calm and assertive energy. I've gotten loads of compliments on what a good dog Jackson is when I bring him out in public to other peoples houses. He's a very calm dog and I think it's due to Cesar's methods. That's something you can use in everyday life. I just think he's a very wise, intellectual man and you can use his techniques not only with your dogs but in your everyday life. Victoria is a VERY good trainer as well and I have definitely learned a lot from her too. But sometimes she can just annoy me. I'm not sure what exactly it is. But her methods do work as well. Cesar and her are similar enough yet different enough for me to learn different ways of teaching new things so I really love both of them. How about you? |
I prefer Cesar. He has a calming air & approach. |

Ive never watched Victoria's show but I love Caesar |
That's funny, I was thinking about this last night. I was wondering if they watch eachother shows and critique one another. They probably disagree on some things and agree on others. Anyway, I prefer Cesar. I watch his show more often and I just seem to learn more from him. |
I don't know much about Caeser, have not seen his show more than once or twice but I love Victoria. I have even read her book. I have used her methods and they are great. Especially with my large dogs, they work wonders. |
Cesar Millan I like Cesar some of this methods work. I have tried them. Cheryl:animal-pa:animal-pa |
Victoria, all the way! I'll go with the minority and say Victoria Stilwell. She is pretty bitchy, so I can see why people would find her off-putting. I think she's hilarious though. She's so nice to dogs and so mean to people. I watch her shows again and again, and I get something new out of them each time, even the re-runs. I prefer Victoria because I think her show is more practical and really about everyday things you can do to improve your dogs behavior. I feel like Cesar's show is more about the myth of Cesar. I would agree that Cesar seems more intuitive about dogs, which is why I prefer Victoria! :p I'm much more into rules and structure, if you do A, your dog will do B, not touchy-feely, feel no fear and your dog will magically submit. Also, I think Victoria is much more accurate about explaining what she's doing. I remember one time Cesar said you should scratch a fearful dog's chest, rather than his head because it makes him feel "proud", while I'm sure Victoria would say (and has said), that dogs find hands over their heads threatening. Just my opinion of course. I don't think anyone would say Thor is the best behaved dog they've ever seen, so maybe I'm backing the wrong horse. :p ==================== I will say that Cesar has a MUCH better haircut than Victoria! Also, for some reason I did not like last season in America as much as I did the ones in the UK. I'm hoping they get quirkier guests next season. |
I like Victoria! love watching its me or the dog!...she is very funny sometimes:) I really like her cars too haha |
Cesar! Love him! |
I like Victoria better. :) |
Victoria all the way here! hehe |

My schedule doens't permit me to catch Caesar's show as often as Victoria's. I like them both, though, they both have cute accents. : ) But I agree, i think Vic's methods are easier for us regular folk to do, other than Caesar taking the doggies to the camp. Has anyone ever seem an episode of eithers with a yorkie on it? |
Team Victoria...I dont know its just something about Cesar's methods that I dont like. Granted I have not watched ever show but the ones that I have seen of his, he seems kinda of rough with the dogs and I dont believe in that. Now to be honest, Tobie only knows how to sit, we are working on more tricks  and yes he still has accidents in the house every now and then. Now that I am thinking about it I dont think I am a very good mom. I let him get away with pretty much anything :p. O well Team Victoria!!! |
I like Victoria...I feel she is more realistic when dealing with people and their untrained dogs...I have never heard a news report about Victoria's dog training techniques being used to harm a dog and have read several about Caesars techniques used by unrealistic expectations of dog owners.:( |
Ceaser here he is sooo hot. Next to Simon Cowell he is the hottest lol |

One that sticks out in my mind from Victoria's show is two Yorkies that were dognapped from their owners car so ever since they began these yappy, afraid of strangers dogs and Victoria helped out a TON! That's one that comes to mind. On Dog Whisperer, there's been quite a few. There was one couple with 6 yorkies, I want to say, but there was one or two who were the trouble makers and Cesar helped them out a lot. There was a blind Yorkie on the show. There was a yorkie whose owner was in the play Wicked and he barked backstage too much. There was one yorkie that chased the vacuum and brooms, etc. Umm... can you tell I watch Dog Whisperer a lot? LOL. You can go to his homepage to see a list of episodes through all the seasons : Cesar Millan - Dog Whisperer TV - Season Four Episodes |
I really love watching Victoria's show, and how she works with both the dogs and the owners! She is awesome ! I am very amazed with her patience towards the dogs . She is so good! I se that she much better at dealing with the dogs then the owners, which I find absolutely hilarious. She is very upfront though and tells it like it is , LOL . I like the way she is. I do not watch too much of Ceaser's show . I have a little , and really have not been all that impressed. I think he is, however incredible dealing with the larger breeds . But, the smaller breeds  He was using a collar to train a yorkie , and the little one started gagging. I wasn't impressed. Ceaser uses the Shhhs command and hand motion too , and I just shake my head on that type of training method as well . Victoria uses more postive rewards and trains with food as motivaters. I would choose her over Ceaser any day. |

Victoria. I don't like the poking Cesar does to the dogs. |
Ceaser does seem to have a real understanding of dogs not sure who that Victoria is though , don't think we get her show here, could be wrong |
[QUOTE=Britster;2627435]What is so wrong with that? Not to be mean, I'm just curious as to why you feel that is bad? Hand motions and commands are all a part of training? The "Shhh" sound is no different than using the word "Quiet!" or something. I know everyone has opinions! And the collar thing is something definitely that shouldn't be happening. But the owner probably used a collar as well. I've seen Cesar use harnesses before if the owner uses them.[/QUOTE IMO, as Ceaser is a professional trainer I feel that their are more effective training methods to be using in a toy breed , then this. I wasn't impressed . I like more calmer approach, food rewards, positive training methods. you started this thread and asked for people to choose, and that is what I did. BTW, this owner, was concerned about her Yorkie's reaction to the pulling of the collar, Ceaser finally placed a harness on her dog. her dog was 6yrs old . |
Have not seen Cesar. I LOVE Victoria. She has a very dry sense of humor, and she is so CUTE!:) |
Victoria but there are things I like and don't like about both. I have found that Victoria's methods are more likely to work for Ellie and I do question whether Ceasar is too rough sometimes. |
