Does anyone have a Yorkie that is entirely pee pad trained?? This is what I planned to do, because I live in an apartment building..this is possible right? I have no outdoor yard like living in a house..I thought it was possible to have then trained only for indoors, am I right? I think I maybe reading to much and getting myself confused!:confuse8: |

Penny is Pee Pee Pad trained only. She does go outside, but holds it till she comes back in! Silly girl.... She was started on papers and it is fine with me. Sometimes I wish she would learn to go outside, but maybe in time. |
Cali and Roxie are pee pad trained only and will never go potty outside. Pixie prefers to go outside. |
Laya is pee pad trained. She will go outside if she has to, but she prefers her pads. It's great, especially at night or when the weather is bad, or if you are sick and can't get up! |
well mine are both. I mean if they get up in the middle of the night or in the morning before I do they go to the pad. They do perfer to potty out side. but if they are not let out they know to go to the pad. so I do let them out to potty and play 3-4 times a day. but because they love the out side. but if they wasnt let out they would always use the pad. |
Joey's pee pad trained, but on a walk he still loves to hike that little leg. Pee pads are the greatest thing ever for apartment dwellers! |
Gucci is Pee Pee pad Trained FULLY, he never really goes outside much unless he's in the car with me or visiting people and he holds it till we get home |
I have 3 yorkies, Lexie goes on washable pads, she will go outside too. If it is raining she prefers to go on the pad. Zander knows what the pad is for but prefers to hold it and go outside. Jazzie would rather explode rather than use a pad  but she knows what its for too, go figure. I have seen a place that sells the grass and tray with a fence to go around it, very cute, I have also seen a fire hydrant for boys that goes on the grass. Good luck  |
Our baby, Kaia is getting close to peeing all the time indoors on the puppy pads. It's quite funny because she loves being praised so much that after her reward is over, she goes back to the same spot and does it over again. The more and more excited we get, the more she continues to do it! Taking her outside is still hard for us because she's having a difficult time with the leash. |
Our Nadia goes on pee pads only - she will go outside if we are on a trip, but she doesn't really like to do so. She sleeps with us and we have a pee pad in our bedroom and one in our living room. She goes poopy on the living room one only and will wake us up if she needs to go :) |
Thank you fro the replys, you are all so helpful!! Where do you get pee pads, lol..I'm not familiar with them, but will have to get them before my pup arrives. Are they really pricy? Are they all washable? Thanks again!! |
Someone on Yorkie Talk makes reusable pads, but I can't remember who right now and I am in a car on my laptop in a hurry. I suggest those if you are going to always use pads. (We are switching to the grass thing.) The cheapest way to get pads is to purchase the bed pads for humans at Costco or Sam's Wholesale. They are bigger and you get a lot more for your money too. |
I use Nature's Miracle. She seems to pick up the scent of them quicker than some others that I have tried. |
You can train the dog for inside only, but when you do take him/her for walks, don't reprimand them for pottying outside though. I'm not saying you would, but I just don't want the dog thinking it's "bad" to go outside, then if you ever need the dog to go outside, it won't. Anyways, when we first got Chip, he was entirely pee pad trained. Now that he's older and situations have changed, he uses his pad in the mornings (cause I'm usually in too much of a rush to get out of the door to work) and throughout the day while I'm gone, then after I get home from work, they go potty outside then about once or twice more outside before bed. |
