Please take advantage of these very kind offers to help. How great is that! It sounds like you can have a lot of help from these YTers who already have the experience you need. Hang in there, it doesn't happen over night. Chloe was 4 mos before she could be considered pad-trained and had a few accidents after that for another month. It takes time and lots of patience mixed with love and praise. Good luck. |
Belly bands are great for dogs that mark, but they really shouldn't be used to house break, they don't teach anything except that it's ok to be wet all the time. Marking is almost impossible to stop, it's too wired into a dogs brain, however learning where to pee, is not that hard to teach, you have to be consistent, and not allow the run of the house. It's also important to clean up any mistakes with an enzyme cleaner because the protein in urine leaves a smell that makes the dog want to return to the same spot, you must use a cleaner that contains enzymes that get rid of this protein. This site has some really good advice on house breaking. They have several different plans, on how to do it depending on how you would like to train. The site can be a little confusing to navigate, but really offers great suggestions. Free House Training for Puppies and Adult Dogs - No More Accidents Starting Today! After i posted my thread, i put some of his puppy food infront of him that was sitting in water and he ate it, and then he drank water!!! and ALOT of it... Im not going to give him cesars anymore, only on a special occassion (or is that a bad idea aswell ) I know he is so young, but nothing i can do really, the breeder gave me him like this so i just though it was okay. But either way he is well behaved and calm but very playful. He learned the hard way not to bite my feed when playing, he went to bite my toe and his tooth got stuck in my sock and i didnt know and then i realized and tried not to step on him and he kind of whirled in a circle and hit my wall, he wasnt hurt but he definintly didnt bite my feet after that. He no longer whines when he is in his area when i leave, he learned it does nothing so i hope that lasts, instead he just sits at the gate when i come ready to come out and i start running down the hall and he follows me like a bullet. |
