A question for all you Maltipoo owners!~ My parents have an 10 month old Maltipoo...Cali Beth...She is ADORABLE!! However...she is a little terror..She will actually look for trouble..You can see it in her little face! She chews EVERYTHING! My parents have to keep her in her crate when they are not home or she would chew the furniture. Cali only weighs 12 lbs...she is not a big girl. My parents have toys for her, they let her run outside, she has a pug friend that comes and runs around the yard with her, they play with her all the time...They take her for rides, she is GREAT in the car!. She climbed up on their table and took a candle out of a holder and chewed it to pieces. She grabbed a magazine and ran like the wind with it and was starting to chew it to shreds. She knows when she is doing something wrong...she will hold what ever she has in her mouth (knowing she's not supposed to have it) and, without moving her head, you can see her little eyes look at you!! and then RUN WITH IT! she is the cutest little girl but, what a devil!!! My Mom asked me to come on here to see if any of you Maltipoo owners have ever had this kind of problem and what did you do? They can not get another dog...it's expensive enough having one! My parents are VERY good animal owners...And take better care of this little girl than some people do their children...If any of you have any suggestions please let me know. Cali is chewing my parents house up!! Thank you in advance Brenda |

I hope noone finds this offensive and I am sure not each one is like this but with my expereince with poodles is they are little terrors. I had a yorki-poo and I swear never again will I get any type of dog mixed with a poodle!! |
Sorry for your parents troubles. Unfortunately I can only empathize. Our son has a maltipoo, 6 months old and he is a terror. We have yet to introduce he and Remy as a result. He was adorable as a baby, but as he is growing he is darn near uncontrollable. He chews, he bites, and when he jumps up to say hello (being somewhat affectionate) he leads with his teeth. He literally started chewing, biting and pulling my CLOTHING when I was sitting on their couch visiting them. You scold, push him away, and he just gets more aggressive. They actually put a shock collar on him, and it has no result! Crazy animal!! They are planning to take him to obedience classes, but have not yet started so I can't comment as to whether this will help.... |
My cousin has a Malti-poo and it has a hypercative bladder, so every time people come over it gets excited and pees. Other than that it's a real sweet puppy. Very playful. |
milu's best dog friend is mimi, who is a year old maltipoo. mimi is really well behaved. i am not sure if mimi is just diff. from other maltipoos or it's because she has lots of toys and she goes to dog parks all the time. like 3-5 times a week. mimi's mom also walks mimi twice a day, an hour in the morning, and an hour in the evening. so i think maybe that is why mimi is such a good dog. :) a tired dog = a well behaved dog a bored dog = trouble |
Thanks Ladies! My Mom walks Cali once a day. They have a very big yard and let her run. And...run she does...She also has a little pug friend that comes to visit her...They will run and play all around the yard. My parents certainly spend alot of time with her so she doesn't get bored...But...I did tell my Mom today I thought also thought it is because she is bored. She has tons of toys to play with and my parents play with her,....Maybe she just needs a friend to wear her out! She is a doll and my parents love her..I think once she is over a year old maybe she will calm down?..LOL thanks for the responses Girls! |

I don't have a malti-poo, I have a purebred maltese and she hasn't put her teeth on me once since I got her from the breeder. She really is an angel. LOL Where did you get her from? Maybe it's inherited from her parents, which deff. isn't a good sign. |

OOPS Sorry! I had to do something, so I just skimmed through your post! But my maltese doesn't get in trouble much. But like I said my malt is an angel(most of the time! lol) and is always trying to please me, and isn't high energy at all. It's hard to tell with these mixed breeds but maybe it's the poo side of her. I know many poodles, and they are very hyper and athletic(but still adorable lol). |
My Maltese is mixed with King Charles Cavalier and she's the most gentle dog I've ever had in my family. She never once bit me or anything she wasn't allowed to. My Yorkie on the other hand  loves biting EVERYTHING. |
Raw hide helps I give our 8 month old maltipoo a big rawhide bone to chew on and it keeps him pretty busy and satisfied. We also keep all his toys in a box that he can get into and so when he gets something he's not supposed to chew we take away from him and show him his box. Sure enough he will pick something out of that and play/chew on that. Hope this helps. |
