I guess I'm some kind of nut or something but I just don't trust anyone to take care of my babies. I just don't feel like they would be taken care of the way we take care of them. Soooooo, we stay home. Kayla gets car sick if she rides in a carrier and it just doesn't mean that much anymore to go somewhere. There are too many things to get out and do and not be gone over nite. There have been so many things happen in kennels etc. even just leaving them to be groomed. I just don't want to chance it. Don't know what I'm going to do when I die. lol!!!!!! No one to leave them too. |
boarding before we got our baby we had vaction plans in the Bahama's...our neighbor watched abbey. She was very sweet and loving but now works full time so its no longer an option. another time i had to fly back to Pa from NC and a friend who has 2 little dogs watched her...now she goes everywhere with us. We stay in Homewood suites and loves it. Ive gotten to the point I dont trust anyone to watch and care as I do. Abbey is a bullet and doesnt listen to commands like "Stay" and would run out front door. I drive now to Pa an have a car seat for her and she's an angel on the 8 hr drive. when I go see grandkids..I have to leashes on her so they can help walk her..why 2..cause theyre 7yr and sometimes see something else they want to do and drop leash but I still am holding mine! My husband is outa town for a long time right now and all pet hotels booked so I will not be visiting him!!!! "its all about Abbey now" |
If we're going somewhere Penny can't come, we board her with a lady who runs a dog boarding facility out of her home. It's really an awesome place-- she has a huge piece of land securely fenced in, and the dogs have the run of the property during the daytime. At night, they all sleep inside her house-- on the sofas, on the bed, or wherever they like. The dogs all have to go through an "interview" before they can board there in order to make sure they have a nice temperament and get along well with other dogs. Penny absolutely loves it there, and when she gets home she is so tired from playing with all the other dogs that she naps for about two days straight. |
I have always boarded, same place for 30 years. Safe, clean, owner lives on premisis. I worry about the in-home thing even with people I know. My kennel owner will take to MY vet if there is a problem. |
My 24 yr old Son moved back home and he watches them for us |

There are some hotels that are "pet friendly" -have you tried researching that option? |
I don't know if this is the right post or not lol I joined this group only because I saw a post on line for help, someone asking for a referral to a daycare for their yorkie when they leave for a week vacation in November, they lived in Murrietta. I wanted to highly recommend a place called Redlands Rover Ranch in Redlands lol duh and it's an amazing pet service to all communities...they will actually pick up your yorkies and they are wonderful people who will truly love your pets. I worked there for them and loved their ethics and genuine love of dogs...I've worked for many doggie daycare centers and found that some owners actually didn't even like dogs but say the industry to be profitable so there you go lol. I also provide doggie daycare and dog walking. The website for this company is:www.redlandsroverranch.com Please email me if I can be of assistance..God bless. |
