How many dogs are you allowed? In your city, is there a bylaw of how many dogs per household. I think there is one around here of two dogs per household? I know I should know more about this since I took legal courses but I don't remember learning too much about this, I know I am going to have to call and figure it out but in the mean time I thought I'd see what everyone else has to say and how they deal with it if they are over their limit? I know that in the future I want another yorkie but my fiancee also wants his "manly" dog. That would make us over the limit  |
i believe it is three for our limit here |
I believe it's 3 in my area. However if you have or want more you have to apply for a kennel license. I've never needed to do this & don't know what that entails. So you might want to inquire about that. |
I've lived in PA and VA. I know in both places the normal before they require that you purchase a kennel license is four dogs. I've always had 3 so I've never pushed it to see what the city would do. But the city I'm in now doesn't interfer much in citizen's lives as it's a very small community. I've seen dogs running my neighborhood daily, people with junkin their yards, people burning and they do nothing to correct it, so sorry if this wasn't much help. I would think that three would be ok. How's Strormy? |

My fiancee is looking into getting himself a dog. Hes got his mind set on it, things are alot better for us financially right now and he is REALLY looking into another dog for himself, one he can run and wrestle with. I don't mind, I love animals, but I know I WANT ANOTHER YORKIE!!! :p So I said if I can have another one eventually he can get what he wants lol So it's a deal lol but I am definitely not looking for another yorkie til we move into a bigger place so within the year or so. We will see. |
That's so great!!! Just remember you have to give and take in the human relationships ;o) Hummmm, why can guys be like dogs....never asking for much....LOL Seriously, I understand him wanting a "manly" dog. Just tell him to go to your local animal control or SPCA and look around. Maybe he'll find a new best friend there. Are you involved in that decission at all? It'd be nice if you both love the breed as I'm sure you'll be helping to care for the new addition. I totally understand wanting more than one Yorkie. They are such awesome beings. I'm inlove with the breed now that I have Barley and couldn't imagine another small breed comparing. If you have any recent photos of Stormy we'd all love to see her. Maybe you should start a new thread with that one though as tons of us have followed her story. So wonderful to have such a great happy ending. Great to hear from you!!!! Oh, how's your mother's yorkie? |

As for the manly dog, he has his heart set on one breed and that breed ONLY lol He really wants a Bull terrier, not a pitbull. They are pretty rare around this area and he's been searching for a while, actually even before we got Stormy he was looking, just hasn't found "the one" yet. lol |
We can have two. |
i live right on the line of frisco & mckinney (TX) and mckinney has a stupid rule and frisco does not. :( we are allowed 4 in mckinney. and frisco is about 150 feet from my front door. my vet asked me how many i had (because i am kind of new to going to him - just found him a few months ago) because he has not seen them all yet. i said  not sure if i should say! LOL. he said he was not animal control or the cops and he doubted they would ever come knocking when my dogs' total weight is less than 24 lbs :p lol |

haha that is pretty funny! But so true lol |
There's a 3 dog limit per property currently in most municipalities in BC with a some going towards 2 dogs and even certain municipalities restricting cat ownership to 2 as well. This applies to detached homes. Now with townhouses and condominiums, there are restrictions per strata regulations. They're generally more strict and this is not including landlords' wishes/contracts. I remember back in the day, we used to have a 4 dog limit. |
I don't know if my city has any laws about how many dogs we can have, but I know my boyfriend would NOT want more than one dog...lol. That's fine with me though b/c i'm happy with Bailey :) |
Lol, they should do it by pounds, like you can have 100 pounds of dog. :D |
