I've never heard of any limit here. We don't really have a stray problem around here or anything, so they really don't seem to care which is nice. :) |
You really need to check your county, city and HOA rules. Around here, the county has a 6 dog limit before a kennel license is needed. (Ooops!) I don't know what my HOA says, but I have 4 dogs (2 Yorkies, 1 Westie and an elderly Pitty) - but no one has ever complained, so I guess it's OK. However, right across the street is a pod of "club houses" within our subdivision that has its own rules and regs, which state they can only have 1 dog under 30 lbs. Strictly enforced. 3 Yorkies (well under 30 lbs.) would be grounds for lawsuits. So, it all depends. BTW, Bull Terriers are rare ANYwhere! If you bring a pup in to your home and it's not the "first" dog, he will learn to live peacefully with the Yorks because they will teach him the ropes. |

Now if a herd rushed me, I'd have to take them home to live with me! :D |

Thank you for this. I have been worrying a little bit, and to my surprise yesterday my fiancee had a little surprise for us when he brought me to the airport and said SURPRISE I GOT A PUPPY :eek::eek: It's a female about 6 months. I was speechless lol |

Before we moved here I read that the limit was 3. We had 4. I called the city clerk's office and asked about it and was told that we had to "get rid" of a dog. RIGHT, I told her to come to my house and pick which one she was going to try and tear away from me. We moved here anyway....I walked into Animal Control with my Yorkie Dog Log (my 3 ring binder with all of the vet, health, license, microchip & AKC info in page sleeves with dividers for each of them) and licensed all 4 of them with no problem. We were down to 3 for a year, kept Jack from Sunnie's last litter & I went to AC in Feb and licensed him (#4) with no problem. |

I know a yorkie breeder that just had the city tell them they had to get rid of 2 of 4 dogs, the are in a smaller city not too far from me. I would be devastated to have to decide something like that! |
Here you must have a kennel license if you own more than 5. Previously someone had to report you for anyone to come to your house....now the vets' offices are required to send info to the city when your dog gets their rabies shot. |

I live in Lenoir, NC (Caldwell County)....and i cant find any leash laws or any laws stating how many dogs one residences can have. The only law i can find is that all cats and dogs must be vaccinated for rabies yearly after 4months of age. If any one knows more about this area regarding such laws please let me know...i cant find much of anything. |
Here in Omaha, the number of animals allowed in one household is 3 dogs and 5 cats. You can however apply for a pet avocation permit ($100 initial fee and $50 per year after) which allows a person 5 dogs and up to 6 cats, but not more than 8 animals. I had 4 yorkies at one point and had to apply for the permit & pay the fee. The AC people actually had to come to the house to "inspect" it and the yard. Of course I passed easily.:p At the moment I have 3 yorkies, so I'm good to go for two more.:D I don't exactly like that I have to pay a pet fee, especially when then allow a person to have more cats than dogs:mad:, but I will do what I have to & consider it my donation to the humane society. |
