When we brought Toto home at 16 weeks, our breeder said that hers had just "popped" up! :) She told us to keep the upper 1/3 of the ears trimmed [almost shaved] inside and out and they would stay up .... they did. Good luck! |

I bet you will be surprised at what happens over the next few weeks with the ears standing as your pup grows. But yes, the tampon trick is fantastic!!! I have had other dog breeds in the past in which I always done this with if there was any trouble with erect ears. The tampons are great because they are much softer than traditional stints that are usually used so they don't cause scabbing etc. as the stints can. |
1 Attachment(s) I was never sure if yorkies needed their ears taped or not. I got Roxie at 10 weeks and her ears have been up since the day I laid eyes on her. Do they all require taping or do some just stand on their own? Here's a pic of her the first day I had her home and you can see how straight they are. |
I didn't think Tucker's ears would everr stand. I kept them shaved, but not taped. Finally at about 15 wks, one stood up. About a week later the other one did. He's 6 months now, and I haven't had a problem with them at all. |

although i would not have minded - i think floppy ears are adorable :D |
June is 11 weeks now and one of her ears are standing up. She is too cute with one floppy ear. I just keep the hair trimmed and hopefully this will work. It worked just fine with Cash. I guess if her ears don't stand by 4 months, I will tape them. But it is early days yet.;) |
Oh my! I am a first time yorkie owner my yorkie is almost 8 months old and did not know I was suppose to tape my pups ears so they would stand. Is it to late to try? |
