2 Attachment(s) I love this thread! The pics are so cute!! My 2 yr old boy Diesel loves frogs. He is the kind of dog that is very respectful of other animals and is always very gentle--otherwise I'd worry about the safety of the frogs lol. Here is a picture from my breeders house--we were up visiting with Diesel and they have this awesome pond on their property where we found the bull frog below :) and the other one is of him meeting our "rescue" toad (relocated to a nice swampy area) :D |
LOL... So the frog was swimming in your pool alive for 2 hours...or am I missing something? |

How cute - I'm surprised they didn't go in the pool after the frog!!!!! |
Wow, I had no idea about the frogs/toads being harmful. The other day I took my dog for a long walk along this path of protected land full of animals. There were a couple frogs that he tried to "play" with. He'd get up all close and sniff and then jump back like someone just scared him. About a half hour or so later, he puked. He ended up vomiting 5 times that night. I meant to check online and see if the frogs or toads or whatever they were, were the cause, but it totally slipped my mind. |

To the other poster, Frogs get in the pool all the time, it does not hurt them, its an inground pool, hard to keep frogs out of it. |

the frogs have been popping up here too. Be careful certain ones can make little dogs (even medium sized ones) REALLY sick! |
I have the same problem with frogs every spring. We have a large pond and the dogs (I have toy poodles and one yorkie) that don't have experience with frogs will almost always have to lick one to learn! I don't think the frogs in MI are poison, since none of my dogs are dead from them, but they sure do cause a lot of yucky foaming of the mouth! The first time it happened (years ago) I panicked and took the dog to the vet. Since then I have learned they will foam and retch, but as long as it goes away within a few hours they are okay. Great photos of the yorkie looking at the dead frog, how intense is that?!:D |

I have lived in this house for 18 years with my poodles, and I think almost every other year we have a pup lick a frog or toad. I put up an acre fence to keep them safe and the darn frogs and toads keep getting in. |
