What a horrible story!! Poor Jackson and poor you!!!! Sounds like he's okay now, just a bit shaken up. I agree that it's a disappointment that the farmer doesn't keep his dog on a leash or something. He could have really hurt Jackson!!! |
So the farmer's son text messaged me back... "Well, I don't know why cuz our dog has never done that on another dog so yours must of freaked on ours." Um, no? I'm kinda angry now. But I calmed down and sent him back a nice text explaining, no, my dog was on a leash and nicely was sniffing your dog as he growled and then just snapped. I said "No prob, I'm not trying to start a fight, he hurt my dog though and I got really worried." Yikes, no working things out with these people. The farmer is a known jerk anyways. |
Jackson did get a tooth pulled out :( I can\'t believe it. I feel so awful for my poor baby. I mean, he\'s been absolutely fine today, eating crunchy food, etc. But I finally got a chance to look in his mouth while he was sleeping. It\'s not one of the two front teeth, but it\'s one next to the front tooth, on the right. It doesn\'t look infected or anything, just looks like... well, a tooth was pulled. I feel so awful though. He is due to get his rabies shot next week but do you think I should try and get him in this week so he can get the shot and the vet can look in his mouth? |
I know most area\'s don\'t have laws about loose dogs in the country, but if you are not going to get any assistance from you neighbors about keeping this dog contained I would call and report the dog bite to your county sheriff and animal control officer. I would want a record of this dog attacking yours while it was loose on your property. They probably can\'t actually do anything, but I would insist that there is a record of it. Also put your vets info in the report so that they will know that it\'s not just a case of someone over reacting to a \'nip\'. Are there small children in your home? If so, please watch them carefully as this dog does not seem to know proper boundaries. Good luck and maybe the old saying, "Walk softly but carry a big stick." is a good one to keep in mind. |
