Re: Summer hair cuts I am thinking about giving my Calleigh her first hair cut. She is a year and a half and I have left her hair long. We have very, very hot summers here and find the long hair hard to manage. She gets into everything and even after I comb her she looks like a mess. Anyone have any cute hair cut pictures they can post or send me. She is going to the Groomer on Friday May 1st this week. Please help. Linda & Calleigh:aimeeyork :animal-pa |

1 Attachment(s) I do it myself I don't trust groomer's. It's very easy You make a few mistakes at first but after a while you just know what you like. I groomed him Friday. |
Thanks everyone! I HOPE I'm not wrong to get her hair cut. Will I ever be able to let it grow again??? This is my worry! Anyway, I'll do it for Calleigh. LindaBedilia:aimeeyork:animal-pa |

Wrapping is a task for those owners who are serious about creating a show-quality coat. To wrap, you need latex bands, wax-paper squares (or some other appropriate paper, like rice paper or bakery tissue), and a comb. To wrap your Yorkie’s hair, make sure that the coat is clean and thoroughly brushed; then follow these steps: 1. Fold wraps in a tri-fold (as you would a letter). When you wrap the hair, it will lay in the middle section of the folded paper. 2. Part the dog’s hair into sections; put a latex band around each section to hold it in place, being sure to leave some space between the roots and band for comfort (think of a loose ponytail). As you part your Yorkie’s hair, keep in mind how his body moves. For example, the crest would be one section; the hair over each shoulder and flank would be other sections (to enable him to move freely). 3. Take the first section of hair and place the end of the hair in the center of the tri-fold paper. 4. Fold the wrap in half, from bottom to top, with the hair inside. This step clinches the hair so that it’s less likely to come out while you’re rolling the wrap up. 5. Fold or roll the wrap up (as you would a hair curler) until it’s about 2 to 3 inches from the dog’s body; then fold the end sections of the tri-fold over the hair. 6. Secure the wrap with a latex band. 7. Repeat Steps 3 through 6 for the remaining sections. Now stand back and admire your handiwork. Don’t wrap a soft coat. Doing so can break your Yorkie’s hair, which isn’t a good thing if your objective is a long coat (and presumably it is if you’re taking the time and effort to wrap it). |

Good to kow It is good to know about wrapping, but that isn't for me. My yorkie is a pet and I don't show her. I just want her to have fun and be playful. As long as her hair won't be ruined by the cut, I think I will do it. Thank you everyone, for your advice. LindaBedilia:aimeeyork:animal-pa |
haircut 4 Attachment(s) I get peanut shaved 1/4 inch on his body and a puppy cut on his head, I do it in the summer..well I am in calif so it is pretty much warm here all the time so I do this cut a lot! I think he likes it too!! He is really active as well, we are always going somewhere or doing something outside. I had his hair longer and it was really hard for me to maintain. I find this really easy!! Plus with leaving his head a little long he still has that cute yorkie look!! Whatever you get dont worry it will grow back! Peanuts hair grows sooooo fast! You never know you might like it short!! Good luck send us pics!! :aimeeyork |
Thanks again everyone! My wee Calleigh is so precious, I am careful with every thing I do with her. I know that she is uncomfortable with the long hair now that it's warmer here. It gets pretty hot in the summer 90 degress, etc. and she loves playing in the back yard with her older sister. I am so glad I checked with all you yorkie lovers and owners. I feel much better now and I will post pics of Calleigh with her new hair do.... LindaBedilia & Calleigh:) :animal-pa |
Both guys are puppy/summer/short cuts year round. It is easier on them with the Florida heat and for me when it comes to brushing and combing them. See our album for their cuts. |
I leave the Yorkies hair long. I just get their feet ears sani cut. Im almost affraid to cut Pablo hair, its long and Black. He never lost his color. It does take work to keep their hair long. |
