I have a Major Question??? Hey friends, I always try to post when something new or something that concern's me comes up. well just about 25 minutes ago my Minnie is 14 weeks just lifted her leg and peed and i was like ahhh and she got scared and stopped I made sure she was a female and i also checked with the vet at her last appt so she is but why is she lifting her leg that isnt lady like. I am thinking because she has a 3 and 1/2 yr old brother Bingo we seems to lift his leg everywhere and sometimes i see her under him while he is peeing gross she is up his butt idk if she thinks he is her dad or whatever the case is but i thought it was weird and i need some advice input some exchange of thought's for thoise of u who may have experienced this ocward situation lol.... thanx |
My little girls do that so they don't pee on their furry feet. I think it is common. |
LOL sorry that was too funny....Glad to know she hasn't spontaneously changed sex!! My Daizy never did that....but Tulip ALWAYS lifts one of her legs...I think it's histerical!!! I love it!! And my girls cousin Sopihie does it too...so don't worry..it's normal....I think they are just more concerned with getting wet paws than the squatters are...hehe |
lol omgosh idk what it is with her but sometimes like a hard dog food would get into her water and i see her like scrapping her paws in the water like almost atleast once a day and im like what r u doing she is trying to get the food out lol n she only eats from his bowl idk what to doo but this scared me the most im glad other's experienced it and i agree it is quit funny lol |

I have a lot of dogs...right now I have 8 girls. And never have I had one lift her leg. Too CUTE |
I had a mini-dachshund that did that, and I had another md that didn't...I think it's a cleanliness issue; they don't want to get there back feet damp... Maggie & Apple:aimeeyork xoxoxo |
Aren't they funny? Kayla will hold her little leg kinda out to the side, like she doesn't want to get tee tee on it. Lexi is our 10mo. old schnauzer and she sits so far down when she tee tees, you can't tell if she is sitting or tee teeing. They are a hoot. Tina broke her little leg when she was younger and she got so use to holding it out that when the cast came off, for a long time after that she held it out. Even when she ran. She now tee tees like a little girl. lol!!! |

Zoe does that both when peeing and pooing. The boys lift one leg while pooing too.. I think it is cute! |
Sadie squats and lifts one leg and scoots around while she's peeing, Joey, the boy, doesn't even squat, just lowers his body and pees, and Sadie marks everywhere outside. She pees like a dozen times when we go for a long walk. Go figure, they are all such characters. |
My Coco (male) is just the opposite. He doesn't lift his leg at all. He just kind of bends like a half an inch and pees. |
my 11 year old FEMALE shih tzu has lifted her leg ever since she was little, just a little bit to keep from pee getting on her. But, when I let her outside to play, she goes around marking the whole back yard, and even backs up to trees and pees. |

Sophie does that, too! I just think it's to keep from getting her foot wet. It's funny because she lifts her leg, but Chewy (my male) doesn't! :D |
All three of our girls lift one leg as they squat, always have! I think it's very common! On the other hand, I had a male American Eskimo dog for 16 1/2 years and he never hiked his leg, he squatted like a girl, go figure! Yorkies have lots of little "quirks", I think that is part of the attraction! :D |

hehe, that's funny! I wish my Genghis would lift his leg properly and pee, I'm constantly having to wipe his fur on his belly. He sort of lifts one leg, but he's in a squaty position. sometime he tries to lift up both back legs in a sort of hand stand, and falls forward, it's hilarous. I should video tape it. |
since we are getting into potty talk, no one has any idea what funny is until they see my little boy, he lifts his leg so high you think hes going to fall over. now hes started to life his leg, pee and poop at the same time, while his leg is still lifted!!!! My bf saw it happen the first time and he came into the room and said you wont believe what your dog just did...... |
All my girls do that to do get their feet wet I guess, I had a friend and her dog would pick both back legs up at the same time when she would potty. Yes I said BOTH BACK LEGS. she would be walk on her front two paws and pottying with her back paw above her . Craziest thing I have ever seen!! |

OMG that is TOOOO CUTE! She is just such a Lady! The thing Tia does is if she goes on her wee wee pad, she immediately barks for me to clean it up and replace the pad with a clean one. It's cute |
my toy poodle has always lifted her leg to pee.. she doesnt do it super high like my male but she lifts it. I think its fairly common.. |
Yes, My dainty little Suzi is a leg lifter too :p When she first did this , I was very surprised. Suzi does it all the time , esp, when we are outside. Now, anther question, I did not know that females mark too? Because it looks like Suzi is marking. She pees a little bit all over the place, lifts her back leg up, acts like a boy , I just shrug my shoulders. I am use to her by now . She was the only female in her litter of three. SHe is the only dog in the house. What a character SHE is , :D I am glad that other female yorkies are the same way. YAY ! |

Sophie Kate does not lift a leg but she squats so low it looks like she is doig the Chinese splits and she looks up at me a dreamy look in her eyes almost like she is saying "ahhhhhhhhh". Dogs crack me up. |
