"No rude would be me saying something like "let's make a deal. If you don't insult my dogs fashion sense she won't insult you by asking which beautician butchered your hair" And we walked away smiling at the other small breed owner who had been insulted by her moments before.......... I was so proud. I usually don't handle confrontation well and NEVER say what I think 5 minutes after and wish I would have said. :) |
Guys, it's a loosing battle. We will never be able to stop rude people. I used to keep my shih tzu in a top knot and two teenage girls walked by us in PetSmart one day and started laughing at the "dog in a ponytail." Now you think you have heard everything but who hasn't seen a top knot on a dog?!!!! They were already past me by the time they said anything or I would have invited them over to the book section to view the looks of purebreds. |
On the other hand....DH and I took Adie and Skeeter to PetSmart one day this winter and I had each of them bundled up in blankets. One was pink and the other was blue. I got so many compliments about my "babies" I wondered why I bothered dressing them if all I needed was blankets! LOL |
Silence is Golden My new tactic is to just stare at them like they have a big booger hanging out of their nose....you know, a little disgust mixed with pity. If that doesn't work, I either scratch my nose or push up my glasses with my middle finger. Makes me feel better. |
