So, I took Missy for a big walk today in a forested type area near a park. I carried her the whole hour because she is still recovering from her spay surgery. Anyways, just as we're getting back to where the car's parked, we walk by 2 ladies sitting with their dog (one was a Chow, the other I couldn't tell). They start openly LAUGHING at us. I just look at them like What? I'm thinking maybe my underwears showing, or I have something on my face...I mean they were REALLY laughing. The one lady is laughing so hard that she can barely talk and she says *pointing at Missy* "What IS that"? I replied, "She's a Yorkie". Lady, "Is that some kind of dog"? Me, "Yes, she's a toy breed dog". Lady *dripping with sarcasm*, "gee, she must be a whole 1.5 lbs". Me, "No, actually she is 3 lbs". Lady, "Well that must be why you're carrying her, she can't even walk by herself". Me, "I'm carrying her because she recently had her spay surgery and has to be kept still". Lady, "You mean you actually had her spayed *laughing hysterically* ...yeah, I guess that I wouldn't want to breed a dog like her either". :eek:

I just glared at her and walked away. I can not believe that someone would be so freakin' RUDE! And of course her Chow was off-leash at a kids park. It wasn't an obediant dog either. She was all the way across the field before he finally listened to her calling him because they were leaving.

If I didn't love Missy so much and think she is perfect the way she is, that probably would have really hurt my feelings. It doesn't matter if you have a big yorkie or a little one, people criticize you either way. You just can't win! Anyways, I hope her Karma bites her in the you know where :p

Here's my little Miss-Miss in her latest purchase from Sapphire's Closet. She's a little scruffy because she can't have a bath for 5 more days, but I thought that I'd share anyways. :)

OMG!! You're little girl is adorable! How dare that ol' nasty lady be so rude! Too bad her dog didn't bite her... :rolleyes:

she's georgeous! just ignore people like that, they try to make others feel bad because that is the only way they can feel good about themselves...and some people just have no filters and will say anything.....

I don't know why people have the audacity to say anything about YOUR dog if they can't say something nice. I have never had anyone say anything rude about my Marley. Maybe I just havent had her long enough ( only about 1 month ) . But I'm telling you what, the first time someone pops off at the mouth about my Marley in a negative way and you can bet they are gonna wish they hadn't. I can't hold my tongue as well as others :D

Seriously, Missy is stunning. Thor totally wants to meet her and he's neutered!

After reading all the stories about people sneering at big yorkies and hearing the comments some people make about 4 lb Thor (rat, not an actual dog, etc), I have reached the inescapable conclusion that some people are STUPID. Even worse, they don't realize how stupid they are and insist on talking to the rest of us, RUDELY.

That is so rude but it doesn't shock me , I get things like that sometimes. Most said things are nice but on the odd occasion like last weekend we were in a country park and this little girl said to her dad "oh daddy look at that cute little dog with a ribbon in its hair ,can we have one" her dad said thats not really a dog we will be getting a proper dog as he said this he pointed out the lab running by..
I could of smacked him in the face. Being a grown up I chose to walk away, my mother would of been proud of me lol

Missy is adorable! Sometimes in life we run into mean people that are going to be nasty no matter what and it sounds like you ran into two of them today. Sometimes people never grow out of being the playground bully... such a shame.

I'm just astounded by the rudeness of some people! It seems that someone's always critisizing.....if your yorkie's bigger than standard then it's 'not a yorkie' and if it's a smaller yorkie then it's 'not a dog'.....why don't people mind their own f*&%ing business???!!! It makes me angry that these women thought it necessaryto laugh at someone who clearly loves and cherishes their dog, just because Missy is not the breed of dog that they would choose for themselves. I personally wouldn't have a chow, but I wouldn't bash someone who chooses to.

You showed a lot of restraint, Shaunna, because I don't think I could have controlled my mouth! Missy is an absolute stunner, and you are a wonderful mummy to her. I hope she's recovering well from her spay xxx xxx

Missy is adorable! I just cant believe the rudeness of people sometimes when it comes to our dogs. I think you just cant please some people no matter what size yorkie you have and I think its jealousy of small dogs

I sincerly think that people like this woman does not have very much to do with her life . Here , I have a little problem with an old man telling his Chow Chow to attack when he sees me walking with Mollie or Frimousse . The other day , I told him to be very careful with his dog because if he attack one of mine , it will be the last thing he'll do .

I get all kinds of comments from my family and my in-laws. I get asked how my "rat-dog" is doing, I get warned not to bring her around because their dog(s) will think she's a snack and they'll have to pick Roxie out of their dogs' teeth, etc. It infuriates me! But obviously they act rude just to cover up their jealousy.. haha. I'd be mad too if someone had a cute perfect doggie that was 1/2 the size of my dog's poop!

Don't pay those women any attention. They are the ones missing out. ;) Your lit Missy is beautiful. How is she doing after her spay?

I think your baby is beautiful. People who make such remarks are jealous! Or maybe they don't really want a pet, they probably keep their larger dogs outside, so they dont know the joy of having a real furbaby!!!!

I agree with JJC...Some people are bullies all of their lives. Ya gotta feel sorry for them. Those are the people who are never quite comfortable in their own skin.

Missy is so cute & so precious. I always love to see new pics of her.

I'm not even going to deal with "lady" and her behavior/comments. I just wanted to say that your baby is one of the prettiest things I have ever seen.

Someone pointed out to me in one of my "vent' threads that those rude people have to go home with themselves, but WE get to go home with our yorkies! A fabulous yorkie is the best revenge.

Some people are just plain clueless.....sorry you had that encounter...but your Little Missy is precious!!:D

So her dog was bigger and not listening. As I walked away I would have turned and said, Wow,for a big dog he sure doesn't listen to you very well. Then keep on walking. Sound like their noses are up in the air. Snoots!
Also, I had Jemma in the car and a couple of guys pointed their finger at her laughing. I got out of the car With her, starting laughing with them and said, yea she is really something isn't she? Bet you guys can't say you've seen many of these can ya? Then suddenly they are asking what kind, yada yadda. I walked away and they said she is different, cute dog. Sometimes ya have to play their game. Depends on the person and what their comments are.

Ewwwww-- so rude! She was probably just jealous because Missy is so cute! And who doesn't know what a Yorkie is?!?! They are the second most popular dog breed in the country!

My husband and I take our son and Oscar for walks all the time. I usually push the baby's stroller so my husband will walk Oscar on his leash. Once we were crossing the street and this guy in a giant pick up was stopped at a stop sign and looked over at my husband and said "What is that one of those pit bull dogs?" and just cracked up like it was the funniest thing ever said. My husband made a comment about being a real man and on we went. People think they are so funny....

Boo to those rude women!! Missy is absolutely gorgeous and I'm sure they are just jealous that their dogs aren't as cute.

I'm sorry Missy had to overhear such rudeness. You have such a special little girl there. She always looks so happy and well loved in your pics, and I know you love her to pieces. That's all that matters, right?

Awww she's adorable. Those women weren't only rude but that's the perfect example of stupidity at it's best! Just remember what goes around comes around. If they hadn't been together I'm sure either of them would have even thought of being that rude. Shame on them! I hope she gets a ticket for having her dog off the leash in a kids park. I wonder if they visit that park requently, if so you could report it and ask they watch for this. When it comes to the safety of children I'd think that's a big no no!

Missy is adorable. I'm sure that nasty old lady will think of Missy when she has to pick up her big ole dog's poop. LOL:p
