Wish me luck I don't think I can wait any longer not knowing if I can have a yorkie in my apartment or not. I have to ask my landlord. I think I will write an email tonight. Wish me luck. Background info: I don't have a yorkie, but want one. My landlord doesn't usually allow us to have any pet at our apartment but she is a yorkie owner. |
GOOD LUCK |
I have been working on email over an hour now.. so tough to ask. |
Oh my god! It's sent! ... nervous nervous. |
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. Like you, I never knew how wonderful these little guys were till I got one - or my husband got one, I should say. Now, I can't imagine life without a Yorkie. So, good luck with your landlord - surely he/she will see that you should have a Yorkie. However, he/she might think if you are allowed to have a pet, then everyone will have to be allowed and that may not work. Do you have the option to move if you get bad news? Just a thought, since you seem very committed to getting a Yorkie. :) |
Wishing you lotsa luck! :D |
This is what I said in the email. Oh my god!!! I am so nervous!!! I hope I get a good response. My lease is until end of next August. So .. it is kinda tough.. but.. if I cannot have a dog here, I think I can consider moving..:) "The other thing is about pet. On the lease it says, "Lessee shall keep no domestic or other animals on or about the leased premises without the written consent of Lessor." I am thinking about getting a yorkshire terrier in the future and wanted to see if you would allow me to keep a yorkie at the apartment. I am not considering any other dogs or pets other than a yorkshire terrier, and I am planning to take time to do more research on yorkie and carefully choose the dog if I get a permission from you. I remember that you have a lovely yorkie yourself, and I also would like to hear your experience with your dog too. I don't have any family in US and sometimes get very lonely, and I would love a companion. So please let me know." |
Good luck, Michiko, that is a very heartful and nice letter, if your landlord has one, perhaps they will relax the rules for you. :) |
Good luck. Hopefully since your landlord owns one, they will allow you to have one. It is good that you ask before getting your baby. The letter was fine. Once again Good luck. |
Now I am depressed My landlord said NO :( I guess she allowed a tenant to have a dog before and they got complaints from unfriendly neighbor. And since Yorkie usually loves to bark and I work for full time, she said no. Very sad. By the way she lost her yorkie two weeks ago.. I feel so bad. Then I sent .. really... depressing email. I guess I am so desperate... :( I wish she could change her mind. "Thank you for the email again. I am really sorry about your loss of your yorkie. I remember she was so cute and was hoping to see her again. I know that yorkies usually love to bark. My colleague's dog often barks too, but he never barks when I watch him at work. I think I give him a lot of attention as you always have for your yokie. My colleague always gets curious why dogs don't bark around me. They just need a lot of love. It's too bad that you have a bad experience with an other tenant having a dog. I know that neighbors can be difficult, but I am pretty good dealing with them. I thought they have a dog too, don't they? Since I don't have any family in US, I sometimes have difficult times in life, and this yorkie I met gave me a lot of joy and comfort. I like dogs in general, but I feel that yorkie's character is somehow very similar to me. I was going to take a couple months more at least to do more research on the breed before getting one and make careful decision. First thing I had to do was to ask you. I also cannot change my work for at least a couple years due to my immigration status because they are sponsoring me. Oh my my! I know I feel like I am still trying so hard to convince you. I really should stop.. but I cannot help it. I wish you can give me a chance since I have been staying there for awhile. Plus I wouldn't be getting a dog until next Spring or so, not any time soon. You can also tell me if things don't work out with me having a dog, you can always let me know. I understand that you don't want any tenants to have a dog. But in any reasons :), if you change your mind and would like to give me a chance, let me know. By the way.. have you received the water bill? I just want to make sure things are back in normal." Michiko " |
I am so sorry!!!!! I know how you feel i tried to hide Gracie in my apartment and I got caught....so Gracie had to stay with my parents....then I eventually moved...can you move??? How long is your lease etc |
That has been a problem with us. Finding an afordable apartment that will accept dogs.. I have to save up for the deposit because everyone I have found the pet deposit has been 300.00 or more. that is not even including the regular deposit. |
I am more depressed than I thought I would be by listening to the bad news. I am crying like a baby.. I am just so disappointed. I am 29 yr old. I cannot get married right now with a personal reason, which means I cannot have a child... I have no family but my boyfriend and a couple friends. I cannot even have a dog who can be my companion... so sad.. I was so excited to look for one... and this is.. so depressing. My lease just started and til end of next August. I have lived here 4 years and didn't want to live any time soon. But... I guess there would be time soon. I hope hope my landlord gives me a chance.. :( |
I'm sorry about the disappointing news. You can get someone to sublease your place and take over your lease, at which point you can move to a place that allows pets. I had to do that for Coco. I moved from one city to another. I hope your second email does the trick. |
Sorry about your landlady saying no. "Sometimes it's easier to ask for forgiveness, than it is to ask for permission." I also live in a apartment and 3 years ago asked my landlady who said "NO" Well, that kinda pissed me off since about 4 of the tenants have multiple cats. I let that Yorkie slip past me and when I was asked again if I wanted a Yorkie I said "Absolutely." She still doesn't know and I am actually looking for a new place now. I would just as soon find one before she asks me to leave. I've had him for 8 months and wouldn't trade him for anything. |
I am so sorry to hear your landlord will not allow a yorkie. I was hoping she would. I was in the same situation... My landlord does not allow pets, and I have been living in our apartment for 4 years. My husband actually already bought my dog before checking with our landlord (which I was not okay with...). When I told my landlord I just started bawling. He has a softspot for me so it worked out... I hope she'll reconsider... (BTW I just finished my immigration status... USCIS is such a mess...) |
Very bad day I am having an extremely bad day. I was so disappointed about my landlord's reponse.. then something I ordered, they made a mistake and sent it to my next door. Then my next door denies that they received it.. Just headche.. and tears! Not a good day. I hope tomorrow is the better day. |
I am sorry about your news. Maybe your landlord will reconsider. |

Ahh, I'm so sorry. But don't give up hope, things can change. |
Michiko, I just read the response of your landlord. I really am sorry to learn that it was negative. I am concerned about your order being delivered to your neighbor. Have you been able to straighten that mess out? Was it delivered by postal or otherwise? |
GOOD LUCK! Let us know the outcome! |
Congrats on your immigration. It is really tough. I have only H1B. I work for non-profit agency help women and children who suffered from domestic violence. I am trying to find a lawyer for greencard... it is tough. Too much stress. (BTW I just finished my immigration status... USCIS is such a mess...)
|
I was very happy that I found this site as I fell in love with a yorkie. I came here many times a day and stopped by the chat. People on chat have been very nice. Now I feel so disappointed about the response and depressed, it is hard to even read other people's posts. I feel so jealous about everyone here for having yorkies :( I wish I would be like others who can say "I finally got a yorkie!" :( I am feeling really down. Maybe this is just faith for me that I don't deserve any family or even pet around me. How lonesome is that! |
Spend the time learning about all of their idiosyncracies. They have many. :D Don't feel so down. Things have a way of working out when you least expect it, you know. ;) |
Everyone here is so nice. I appreciate that very much.. |

please dont feel this way. everyone deserves love. sometimes people have very low moments in their lives but there's always light at the end of the tunnell. my mother was a war baby. born in korea in the 50's when it wasnt ok to mix races( she's korean and black). she was left in the woods for the animals to eat and was picked up by an orphanage. she ended up being adopted by a wonderful lady my grandmother...because of my mother's background she never raised me. i was raised by my grandmother until she died when i was 11 from then on i've lived in more than 20 foster homes.....the point is there were days when i had nothing to live for. thought no body cared about me..though i was bad that my own mother couldnt love me...it was tough..but i survived and it mad me stonger and a better person..i know you will have a great life and thing will get better for you .....give it a little time an be patient...god loves all of us...cocoa |
I am so sorry you aren't able to get your yorkie yet!! I had to wait a year for mine, and I know it's not that long, but I was dying to get one! Just don't give up and I'm sure everything will work out for you!! Keep us updated! and good luck! |
We just bought our own home but prior to our move we rented. Our landlord said no when we wanted to get a Min Pin. He adamantly said "no dogs" so when I saw my Chi and fell in love with her I bought her and brought her home and THEN called the landlord. Gave him a sob story about how she was a gift. He complained but he also just tacked $25/month extra onto the rent. Two months later...our Boxer was followed up with another sob story phone call and another $25/month was added onto the rent. In June I brought Piper home but didn't give the usual phone call. By that time I knew we were hoping to buy a home so the landlord never knew and we never told. Sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands but when doing so you also have to be willing to take the consequences. Me, I'm pig-headed to a fault and No is not something I take lightly if I have my heart set on something. I could've ended us out on our rears but fortunatley it worked out. Sometimes I think landlords just don't understand. In due time you'll have your baby and it'll all be worth the wait. |
michiko, sorry to see you so sad. You really seem to have done the best you could with your landlord. You wrote two excellent letters. If she doesn't change her mind, is there any chance you could break the lease? If you waited until she found someone new to rent it, maybe she'd let you out of the lease. If not, you will get your chance to own a Yorkie someday. You're still young and have the world ahead of you. Save your money in the next year, find a better place to live, and start looking for the perfect Yorkie. Good luck, and cheer up! |
