Here is the link for the Biewer Terrier Club of America: Biewer Terrier Standard It says 4-8 pounds. The UCI Standards of Germany: WEIGHT & HEIGHT: Up to 22 cm in height and a weight of about 3.1 kg (which would be 6.834 lbs) Biewer Standard ARBA Standard Weight is 4 to 8 pounds. Biewer-Standard Biewer Yorkie Club 4 pounds - up to and including 12 pounds Biewer Yorkie Breed Standard as established by the BYA American Rare Breed Association says 4-8 pounds Biewer Terrier Breed Standard |

NAKC, IABCA, and RBASWO both use the standard as provided by the German club UCI which is up to 7 pounds. The UCI standard is a yorkie standard with differences provided for hair coloring and docked or undocked tails. |

But then there is also the Biewer Yorkshire Terrier National Club (which is a club) BiewerStandard There seems to be a LOT of different "organizations" promoting the breed and claiming standards. Maybe they will eventually merge and have one conscensus. Most seem to be pretty much in agreement (up to 7 or 8 pounds) except for the one which give the upper limit of 12. |

This information, though alarming, was good for breeders to know because it set in motion dedicated breeders who had this line to either spay/neutar or very carefully watch their lines and breed out from there. Even though this happened 5 years ago, it is still very fresh in breeders minds as beautiful Biewers were being produced from this line until the walls started crashing in. |
:thumbs up Hats off to Donna for being such a caring & honest person to this breed, i sincerley admire her actions Betty & Micah my love:aimeeyork:eggs::bunnysmiley3: |

Donna Hall was not involved in the BYA Donna was responsible for importing the first Biewer to North America and Founded the Biewer Club of American also known as The American Biewer Club. She petitioned IABCA and NAKC at that time and the first Biewers were shown in early 2003. The Original Standard was revised to include black coloration on the saddle known as the UCI Rvd refrence # 00/490 the Biewers have been shown under this recognized " universal standard"since. http://www.raritiesinc.ca/breeds/bre...rds/Biewer.pdf Donna was instrumental in the introduction of this splendid little breed to North America and for that I am truly greatful. Now you are saying that you are not using Mr. Biewer's standard but the standard written by a Mi-Ki breeder? Don't you think you are deceiving the public by saying, " Protection of the Biewer and it's original standard are of the utmost importance to us with intent to hold true, the long term goals of the originator of this wonderful breed. We thank the Biewers' for their dedication to this breed and vow to continue their hard work here in North America and abroad". (Taken from your club site.) Are you guys going to continue to mislead the public or will you go back and fix your web sites to tell the truth? Will you now admit that you also changed the name of the dog? Mr. Biewer did not call it a Biewer breed, nor did he call it a Biewer a la Pom Pon. You are not following the Biewer's dream, but your own dream and should be honest about it. You should also tell the public that the UCI that you are referring to, is not the Union Cynologie International e.V. (Union Cynologie International e. V. (UCI e.V.)) that governs the IABCA. It is actually the UKCI -United Kennel Clubs International, (Der United kennel Clubs International e.V.). Do you think they have made that K really small in order to make people think that they are "THE" UCI. The BTCA, Inc. is the only club that has Mrs. Biewer's support and 100% honest with the public. They do not make things up and say that it is Mr. Biewer's dream. Donna Hall tried to start a club, but could not get any members, so to say she had the first Biewer club is not true. Likewise with the BYA, how many Biewer Breeders do they have? I really think you need more than 10 people to make a club, don't you? That being said, the BTCA was next in line. |
Truth be told the original standard was changed by a Mi-Ki breeder. Unfortunately when the standard was revised by The BTCA and agreed to by Mrs. Biewer there was a huge uproar from certain other clubs. The sad thing is that the NBCA/BBCI/BBCA is willing to give credit to a woman that had nothing to do with the development of the breed and discredit the woman that was there along side her husband when the breed was developed. |
Donna's club was the ABC American Biewer Club. It was never called the Biewer Club of America. Donna was very nice in posting the results of Decoration and was told at that time to spay and neuter all siblings. She bred her sister and then sold her as a breeder AGAINST what she was told. She sold and sent a pregnant dog to a lady in San Diego and the poor thing aborted the litter due to the stress. Sorry folks, but I do not believe in giving credit when credit isn't due. She is not responsible for the introduction of the Biewer in America. I told my Uncle Dieter to bring me a puppy when he came over for vacation in 2003. I had never heard of Donna until I already had my dogs and I can say that 99% of the people I talked to had never heard of her either. |
Since I started Yorkie Talk I have become more alarmed as to what I am seeing and reading with the Biewer Terrier. I believe a lot of members are becoming confused with the difference in a tri-colored yorkie, and a Biewer. I am becoming increasingly alarmed when I see breeders here who say they are breeding tri-colored yorkies and when I see their sire or dam I question its breed. A tri-colored yorkie has no standard, a biewer does and when you see a Biewer, you know it is a Biewer! The dispute with the standards amongst the clubs is just basically that, a dispute. However, I bet they know they own Biewers and not a tri-colored Yorkie. |
