It looks like the ligament that was suppose to be holding the C1 and C2 vertebrae in place was completely severed which was causing his paralyzis! Now that it has been REATTACHED with a long recouperation it looks like he will be able to regain the ability to walk! All of our prayers and well wishes for Teagan have paid off! :littleang He will be off and running:dogwalk: I would love to see his wag his tail! :dogsm2: Can you even imagine a little yorkie without a waggie tail??? Thank you to :clapsmile YTNR and his foster mom:bravo: and all of you that have been following and riding the train with us for Teagan's recovery! :2hearts2::yorkiesar:2hearts2: I have a feeling we will be getting a report before we know it that Teagan is standing! :luvu:Teagan:luvu: |

Update thus far is.... Now remember Teagan was not what we think of a fully paralized....he could lift his head and wiggle his legs.....what was wrong is the sending unit, (for lack of better description), it was damaged so when he wanted to stand that message never went from his brain to his legs.....thus he could not stand.....even though he could wiggle his legs and hold his head up......this is what they hope they fixed.... They will be keeping Teagan for another couple of days....He is in the best place he could be right now they can keep him calm and give the repair time to start the healing process.....any quick movements may undo what they have already done....and we all know what a happy little guy he is so it has been decided he will remain in the hospital to monitor all his movements....he is eating fine and is a happy little boy..he is on some pain meds so this will also keep him calm and this is what he needs right now.... so lets keep those prayers and good thoughts going....this will not be a quick fix...Teagan still has alot of PT ahead of him........ Thank you all so much for loving this little guy and helping him get the help he so deserves..... "The Teagan Train is still chugging along..!!!" Toot, Toot |

Connie the next time you talk to Corrine you need to ask her if he has been able to wag his tail! That was the saddest part to me that he was not able to get that little tail of his going as much as he tried. :( In my head if he would wag he will be good! :D He will undoubtably have a lot of PT ahead of him due to the fact that he was not able to walk. If you do not use your muscles to move they begin to get weak and atrophy. I know that when I had him and since he as has been with his foster mom we both did exercise to keep his muscles as lose as possible. But prior to that it was not done. His muscles and joints were very stiff and ridged from lack of use and care. The way that I can explain a tendon or ligament in your body is like a rubber band. If it is cut or severed it will coil back. So that is what happened to Teagan, the ligament in his neck high up at the C1 and C2 vertabrae was severed in his injury. It coiled back so the signals that his brain was sending to his limbs were being processed and received but they were not doing what his brain was telling them to do. Now that this ligament has been connected back together the signals will be able to be completed. I am so glad that he is getting such wonderful care but I cannot imagine at this point what all of the after care will cost. Staying in a 24 hour facility must be HUGE! It is so wonderful to see all of the people that have not only visited this thread but that have also followed the link to his page to see his pictures and follow his story! It just shows just how much we all care about this little guy and giving him a fighting chance at life. Thank you! Thank you !!! Thank you!!!! Teagan |
