Teapot Yorkie owners... do you dress up your teapot babies? Just curious as I tend to see mostly the babies that are smaller all dressed up. If you have any pics of your teapots all dressed up, I'd love to see them. :D I'm going to be ordering my first harness dress for Sophie soon. She's only 5.5 lbs now, but she's still got growing to do.:aimeeyork |
How old is your Sophie? Our little one was 4.6 pounds at 13 weeks. She is 14 1/2 weeks and close to 5 pounds, I'm sure. And, yes, we dress her up. That's part of the fun in owning a Yorkie, IMO. I need to take some new pictures and post them. |
Sophie will be 19 weeks on Monday. I just weighed her yesterday and she was exactly 5lbs 8 oz. Now, Chewy (her brother, same age, same litter) weighed 6lbs. 7 oz! He's a chunk!:animal36 But he's built much bigger than Sophie is. If they continue to grow like they have been for the first 4.5 months of thier lives, I figure Sophie to be at least 7.5-8 lbs & Chewy to be 9-10 lbs. But that's just my estimate. Their mom and dad were both on the larger side (I'd guess around 7-9 lbs). |
Bear is 24 weeks and only 3lbs 10oz... based on this do you think he'll stay pretty small? I love dressing him in "manly" outfits (at least thats all daddy will allow) He has his jerseys and hooded sweatshirts and sweaters (pics in an album on my profile). I think it would be fun to get a girl and have her wear little dresses. :animal-pa |
My Teapot is Boo and DH is pretty adamant...no clothes. I'll put bandana's on him tho. I think DH is scared I'll buy him and Boo matching shirts to wear. :lol tears |
How do you weigh your pups. I could never get Millie to stay on the scales long enough! |

Hi, I have a little girl who is 22 weeks old today and she weighs exactly 2lbs. She wears, at least, a bow everyday. She also wears cute shirts and jackets. I'm not big on the dresses...or maybe I just haven't found the right one. Today she wore a pink shirt that has a big pink bow with white polkadots on it and tulle that kind of look like angel wings and a bow in her hair that matched. I thought she was adorable! I did get her a super cute harness and leash but she has not worn them yet. I weigh her with kitchen scales (non-digital) and at the vets they use a digital scale. I see all these weights people are giving...any guess on how big my girl might get? She seems smaller than the Yorkies mentioned. When do they stop growing? Thanks, |
Tea cups Tea cups do not wiegh more than 3lbs as adults. Sophie will be healthier and more resiliant than a tea cup she sounds wonderful! |
Corrine Parrott's post makes me think teacups and teapots are not the same thing? I'm new so I don't really know all the lingo. If a teapot is not a smaller sized Yorkie then what does it mean? Forgive the newbie!!! |
YorkieMom- teapots are what we call our "larger than standard" yorkies. :p It's not a technical term, just a cute nickname...I actually never heard about it until I joined here. About weighing my pups, I use my digital postal scale that I have. It's tricky to get them to stay still long enought, but it gives a very accurate weight. |
Jackson is 13 pounds at almost 6 months old. He's never been dressed up! lol. I tried when I first got him, he hated it, so I gave up :) |
Sammy my Teapot Papillion weighs 15 + pounds. He wears clothes just like his 7 lb. Yorkie Brother Baron does. They both get new collars @ the same time too. :D |
Jackson sounds too funny! I doubt if Chewy would wear anything either...but I'd love to at least try a cute little harness vest on him. DH agreed to either a camo one or a Tennessee Vols one. :shade: I want to wait until he's a little older & hopefully through growing! He's gonna be a big boy! I just placed my order for Sophie's ruffled name harness from a fellow YT'er. It'll be her first "outfit". I can't wait to share pics when we get it! :aimeeyork I just hope she likes to wear it...she doesn't mind wearing a bow, so hopefully she'll do fine. Chewy's the one that rips her bow out of her hair! I am glad to see other teapots wearing clothes, though. I was beginning to feel a little out of place... I love the fact that my babies are going to be "big" and I still want to dress them up; well at least dress Sophie up...the only clothes DH said Chewy could wear is either the harness mentioned above or a Vols t-shirt this football season. :grin2: |
1 Attachment(s) Preston is 1 1/2 years old, and weighed 14.1 lbs last Sunday. He was 5 months and 7 lbs when we got him. He has always worn clothes. |

Chase is definitely not "standard" weighing in at 8lbs going on 9. He wears shirts and sweaters all the time. Usually a size small or 10"-12". I love my teapot furball! |
I try and dress my two up for special occassions, like Super Bowls, college playoffs. They will humor me for a little bit and wear their team jersey and then after awhile I take it off. My little female, Winnie, I wanted so badly to dress her all fru fru but she won't have it at all. If I try to put a bow in her hair I'll come out of it with stubs for fingers. hehehehehehe. |

Preston is so cute! He looks handsome in his jacket. |
4 Attachment(s) Is this a trick question? Of course I dress up my girls! They are dressed at the very least almost everyday for daycare (attend during the week while we are at work). :p Rory is nearly 12 pounds, and Lane is about 8.5! Both are actually skinny minis though... They have everything from tanks to fancy dresses. If you want to dress up your baby, don't let the "big" size deter you. :) In some of their new sweaters: Attachment 272027 Excuse the messy fur...after daycare: Attachment 272028 Atlanta's version of "snow": Attachment 272029 Valentine's Day dresses: Attachment 272030 |

I highly doubt your little Zipper will be a teapot...which is usually reserved for yorkies 8 lbs and up....They do most of their growing..usually by 6 months...and can still put on some weight afterwards until after 1 year..but its not usually much. I would bet he doesn't get past 6 pounds..maybe 7.. |

I'm loving all these pics!!! And the last one OMG!!! too freaking cute!!! |
Dayzee my teapot--12 pounds--will not wear clothes. She thinks she is being punished and hides in the corner. Abbi my largest Biewer at 7# loves to wear clothes. I won a whole bunch of new dresses at a raffle that I will have her model soon and post pictures. |
Teapots 1 Attachment(s) I guess Bear who passed on Dec.30 was 13lbs. at 17 years and Daisy is 17 years and weighs in at 12.5 lbs are both Teapots...I never heard that expression before. Who knows how big Zipper will be if he is under 4lbs at 5months. As long as he is healthy I don't care. |
