both of mine go on potty pads but they will go potty outside if they need to like when we're at the dog park or after long car rides riley went #2 in the parking lot at the vet's office before.. so embarassing  |
Our 2 little girls will go outside while we take walks, but they have been brought up to go on puppy pads indoors. They are 9 and 11 yrs old and if it wasn't for the puppy pads, we never would have caught a few Urinary Tract Infections early enought to be treated quickly. If it wasn't for the pads we wouldn't have detected any problems if they were going outside on the ground. Another issue being we have too many hawks and critters that would love to eat little dogs, besides the freezing temps of wintertime here makes it impossible for them and me to be out in the elements, them being only 4 lbs. each. Suggestion: Always have a covered and enclosed area for them to be safely outside if left alone to do their business as birds of prey are everywhere. |
I tried the pee pad thing, the disposable and the washable ones, the idea of it sounded so appealing. No going out in the middle of the night in the middle of winter and having the convience of them when we traveled. The appeal of it wore off quickly. lol. The breeder had Tucker using pads when I got him so I continued. For 2 months untill he started peeing and pooing all over anything in my house including my beds. I started taking him outside, it was alot of work and I think he would of trained faster if I just started him outside. He is almost 7 months old now and is completely potty trained. He was the first dog that I tried pee pad training, and I will NEVER EVER do it again. :) Oh and not to mention not to many people like having a dog pee pad in thier house when you are there to visit. But if it works for you then have it.. :) |
I've never had a peepad pup til we got Sophie...so we are trying to get her to go outside. Well, she pee & poop on the patio (close but no cigar!). We can have her out back for 1/2 an hour & she'll run back in, hop in her xpen & go on the pee pad. Arrgggg. Our weather is good enough all year long for outdoor forays. |
:D today i am very thankful for pee pads since it is pouring rain my babies have a deck that is enclosed with lattice including the top where they can go out thru d/door to enjoy the sunshine, we live on a lake where there are many predators just waiting for lunch so we have to be very careful Betty & Micah my love:aimeeyork |
