I say go for it. Keep her in panties while you are house training her. I have three from almost three years old to 6 months and I don't think it is that different from have two, till they all start running around the house like little yorkie terrorist. Best of luck I hope it all works out for you. |
If you follow your heart you can't really go wrong. House training a year old female yorkie is a challenge however not impossible. Both my male and female rescues were 3 yrs old when I took them and had never even been paper trained. The male took a couple of days, the female a few weeks. My new pup, 5 months today, was trained in two weeks. I do not use peepee pads, paper, exercise pens, crates or doggy doors. They are trained to go outside. It take patience and absolute total dedication 24/7 for the first couple of weeks. I've had upwards of four at a time, two is a piece of cake, three becomes challenging if you intend to take them all for walks in the park etc. We travel alot and three is definitely more work than two. There is also the cost factor to be considered. Three vet bills, three grooming bills. As long as you are prepared to provide all of that then it should be ok. Having two males will pose a challenge until they sort who's going to be the boss. Good luck and if I can be of any help please feel free to ask. |
What did you decide? I'm obsessed with yorkies, so I'd say take them both lol. |
Well, we talked about it, and at 1st Ray was totally against it. But now he said he would think about it. But, now I am even having doubts as to whether or not I should take her. My cousin called me this morning and said its a possibility that her Dad (my Uncle) may want to take her in!!!! I am just not sure about going from 1 to 3 in a matter of a weekend. So I think I am just going to get my little Rosco, and I will have the 2!!!! Then maybe down the road, I may look for another little girl rescue....but time will tell!!!! Thanks everyone for your opinions!!!!! I truly appreciate it!!!! We will know for sure tonight hopefully where little Angel will be going!!!!!! I will let you know!!!!! |
I'd say go for it. You'll have to be teaching the new one to be housebroken, so you can do both at one time. Sometimes I think it's easier with more than one because they sort of follow the leader. Best wishes with your decision. |
