My baby Abbie has passed...
 
I have not been on here in forever, as I had a human baby, but today I took my sweet angel Abbie to the vet to be spayed and they called to tell me she passed away during surgery. She was only 3.5 years old. I wish I had never taken her up there now. I am so heartsick, I do not even know what I will do. She was so precious to me. I cannot even express it. Thanks for listening, and I don't want to bring anyone down, but I knew this is the one place I could come and you all would understand. Thanks.:angelyork::cry8:

Oh! I'm so sorry. I can almost feel your pain. What did the vet say?: How well did he monitor her while doing the surgery? My cousin lost a little Maltese when he had her teeth cleaned. Tucker is five months old, and will need to be neutered. It scares me to death. My prayers are with you. My vet assured me that they monitor everything when they put them under. I think I'll put it off until Tucker really needs it. Tucker's Mom

I am so so sorry. This is seeming to happen too often lately, I keep putting off my Lulu's spaying for this very reason.

My heart breaks for you, I just cannot express that enough. Noone knows what these little ones mean to us unless they have their own. Please know we're here for you and you will be in my prayers.

lgoodall, the vet was so very apologetic. I live in a small town. Just one vet here and he has been here for at least 25 years. He is a very good vet and he assured me they tried to revive her for 30 minutes. Gave her the epinephrine to try to restart her heart. Believe me I asked a million questions about what happened. Of course, I was just balling the whole time, I didnt care though. She was also going to get her teeth cleaned while she was under, but he had just sewn her up form the spaying when this happened. I was thinking it was too much anesthesia with the spaying AND teeth cleaning, but he said they had not started it yet. I was just devastated to go up there after he called ( I waited till my husband could get home). He thinks her heart just stopped. I mean, she was a healthy little dog. All muscle. She loved to play ball and that is all she wanted to do. And give kisses. My heart feels like it is literally breaking into.

My Sweet Pea is going to get spayed in a few months when she will be 6 months. I have been reading more and more about dogs dying while having this surgery. I'm scared, but will still go through with it.

I'm so sorry to hear about your baby. I can't think of anything to say that will help mend your broken heart.

How much did Abbie weigh? for some reason, it seems like a lot of people have been losing their babies lately while spaying/neutering

Abbie weighed between 6 and 7 pounds.

So sorry to hear about your little Abbie...My babies are on the larger end of the spectrum and I'm still afraid to take them. Did they do any pre-blood work before scheduling? My she rest in peace.

She just had her yearly shots one week ago to the day. I don't think they did any blood work though.
