Scared The P### Out Of Me........... ............literally. I was coming in the front door and Murfee ran out as fast as he could....straight for Abigail (my donkey) This fat, old lady with bad knees was running and yelling for him to stop. He ran under the fence and Abby ran along the fence and hit Murfee with her hoof. He fell over and was screaming. She ran back over him. He was still screaming but managed to pull himself out of the fence. When I got to him he was laying on his side and whimpering. By this time Richard was running out the door. I just picked up Murfee and Richard and I jumped in the car. When we got to the vet, she was standing in the hall and took us immediately. She took xrays and checked him over really good. It seems he is just bruised and will be very sore for several days. She gave him pain meds and anti inflamatory meds. He is hiding in his "safe" place behind the toilet and won't come lay with me. Since I had to change my clothes :D I am in my pj's and I really want him to come lay with me!!!!! God answered prayers 'cause there sure were lots of them coming from Krum this afternoon. |
Oh no! I'm so glad he's going to be okay!! It would have scared me too. Wow! |
Thats soooo scary!!! I am glad he is ok :) |
Oh my gosh!! Im glad he's ok!! |
O that is soo scary, I am glad he is ok. |
Thank heavens he is OK. Poor baby. Im sure he will be out to snuggle soon. |
Gosh I would have died. Thank god he is ok. Guess he won't be trying to run up on any Donkey's anymore. These little guys are so hard headed. Again girl I am so happy that all is ok. Hopefully he comes out and lays with you. |
oh dear :( this scared me reading your post . I am thankful Murfee is going to be ok. Our little ones are so fast and can get into trouble quickly. Hopfully he will come out and lay down with you. He needs to be close to you. :aimeeyork |
Oh my...that is scary..I am sorry that this happen! I am glad that he is ok... |
Gosh Patty, I can imagine the horror you were feeling!!!! I am so very glad to hear that he will be okay. I know how you must feel in wanting him to come lay with you; you probably need some comfort now just as much as he does. Hugs to you and prayers that Murfee will be feeling better real soon. |
:eek::eek::eek: Wow! How terrifying! Glad he will be okay. I'm sure he'll come cuddle with you soon. |

That is ver scary, but I'm glad that everything is OK. |
Patty, I am so glad to hear that Murfee is ok. What a huge scare. I know that generally speaking, donkeys don't like dogs. Could you tell if she was "out to hurt him" or was it just an accident? Maybe you can take a blankey and go lay down in the br with Murfee :D Sending lots of  and I'll keep you in my :hands: . I hope Murfee doesn't wind up with any long term emotional stress over this incident - same for you, Frister! |
Take it from someone who has had a lot of mules, mules and donkeys Do NOT like fury or feathery (think wild turkeys) in THEIR pasture. That is why they are used for guard animals for herds of sheep. The mules get the trait from their donkey daddy. I had a small white molly that would lay her ears back, duck her head down and charge across a 20 acre field to chase out or kill an animal she didn't like the looks of. |
OMG how scary!!!! I'm so happy that he's ok!!! Could have been so much worse!!!!! |

He still won't come out from behind the toilet. He is soaking wet because of all the drooling from the meds. I picked him up and cuddled with him and dried him off a little, but he still won't stay on the bed with me.....and Cindy, I already thought about sleeping on the floor with him. :D You should be here since you like sleeping on the floor. |
KIDS!!!! It's all fun & games..'til someone loses an eye!!! PS-I'd totally be on the floor with one of my kids...pitiful!!! |
Aww poor little guy! Poor mommy!!!! That must have been horrible to experience. I am glad he is ok albeit a little frightened. |
OMG. I would freak. I am glad that Murfee is doing ok. Hopefully he wont do that again:( |
Update: Murfee still hasn't eaten or had a drink. He wouldn't come out of the bathroom all night. I did lay on the floor with him but neither of us slept. I finally got him to come and lay on my shoulder and he is asleep right now. After a little nap, I am going to try to entice him with food and water. If that doesn't work, we will go back to the vet. I sure don't want him to get dehydrated.:( |
oh my goodness....im so glad hes ok! How nice of the vet! |
OMG - I was in a sweat reading this. I'm so glad he's going to be ok. Give him plenty of hugs & kissed for us!! |
Just seeing this Patty, I am so sorry for you & Murfee having to go through this, Give that baby extra love from me, and I will be praying for him. Keep us updated.:( |
Im glad that he will be ok. Sending him lots of get better vibes. It may be the medicine that is making him not hungry and so tired and he is probably pretty sore. :( |
