CHloe used to pic up everything on the ground(still does). SHe normally doesnt eat the items but she will chew on them. I think it is the curious puppy phase. So far I am amazed at what my dogs have eaten and they have never had a serious problem. BUt anyways, I think your dog will be okay just keep an eye on him the next few days :) |
Tiggerwit Im sorry for your Maxie. DOnt blame yourself it wasnt your fault. Gucci gets stuff that fall on the floor also. I have teach her the "drop it" command. I think everyone should teach their babies that command. Of course Gucci can be stubborn and sometimes wont listen and I had to pull stuff out of her mouth. Is incredible the things they chew. I saw on a website pics of the surgery of a dog that ate a shirt. Incredible. |
Tiggerwit, that's the saddest doggie story I've heard in a long time. It's every pet owner's nightmare. I'm sure it was difficult to recount here, but thank you for sharing the story. Maybe all of us will redouble our efforts to try to keep bad things away from our pets. Eddie was a bad, bad stick-eater when he was younger, but I started telling him to LEAVE IT. Slowly, he's learned the term. I can't keep everything away from him, but when I catch him and tell him to LEAVE IT, he knows what I'm talking about now. |
Thank you for your kinds thoughts and words. It's been very difficult and lonely. I have spent the last four days just pouring over all these forums. It makes me sad but at the same times it's helped. I just love all the postings. They make me giggle because I can so relate. I just wish I had found this earlier. Alaskayorkie - I love the picture you have, it reminds of Max when he'd get a hold of something that hit the floor and was Wham!! outta there. |
Dont feel bad Sparky ate a foam ear plug but it passed!!! |
Awww tiggerwit, I am so sorry for your loss. Please don't blame yourself. And thank you for posting. I am sure that I will always remember what happened to Maxie. Now if any of my dogs get these symptoms, I will make the vet do an exray. I wouldn't have before. How nice of you to help others. Please know that you are helping others at this very sorrowful time. Please don't deny your heart of another Yorkie after you have had time to heal. |
