Stolen yorkie pups So listen to this story. One of the ladies I work with has an 18 year old daughter. Daughter was at her boyfriends house last week and they get to talking to the boy who lives next door...also 18 yrs old. The boy says he is selling yorkie pups but will GIVE one to them. So she brings it home and they were all excited. The lady I work with brings it into work for all to see. This puppy could have not been older than 5 weeks old!! I explain to her about resposible breeders, etc. She said the pup was eating hard food oddly enough but they were still bottle feeding it. Fast forward a little bit.... I go into work today and hear that she was all upset yesterday at work. I asked what happened and she explains to me that the puppy was stolen! The boy that her daughter go it from stole it from the other neighbors back yard and when the neighbor found out it was him the boy was of course arrested and most of the puppies were located and brought back. There was 8 in the litter and 4 were stolen...1 could not be located and returned to the momma and owners though :( My friend from work and her daughter who had no idea they were stolen are heartbroken, they had her for a week and has no idea they were stolen. They are going to go to the original owners house and ask if the can buy the puppy when she is old enough... I was shocked by this story so I just has to share. |
 omg how awful |
That is sad the puppies had to go through that but what were puppies that young doing in a back yard unattended? It does make me wonder. |
I know! Thats what the lady from work said. Now she really want to get it oo since she knew they kept it in the backyard. |
What the heck? I hope that one that couldn't be found survived and is in a warm home right now. You gotta think that maybe it didn't make it though. I don't think I will even tell anyone that I have pups at all. You just never know do you? There are so many people that just see something they want and take it, like it was theirs or something. About a year ago my mother-in-law had a renter with a SUPER-tiny 1.5 lbs Yorkie. She lived alone and really loved the little thing. She put it out to go potty in her yard one summer afternoon and went inside to answer the phone and when she went out a few minutes later the little thing was gone. It had to be a neighbor too because every sign she put up in the neighborhood got tore down! That is sad to hear, you can't even trust your neighbors. |
How tragic . These babies should have never been left out in the backyard with their mother. :thumbdown |
Wow. I don't even know what to say! |
That is awful... |
when we bought Samson a puppy had been stolen by the breeder just days before. I had called the breeder and she answered the phone in tears, told me she couldn't talk and would call me back. She explained that someone had come over to see the puppies and when she left the room to get some papers the person walked out of the home with one of the puppies. When we got Samson a week later the puppy had not been found. She was very upset about the whole incident. It was very sad. |

How awful and heartbreaking! It astonishes me how cold hearted some people can be! Unfortunately, puppy (dog) theft seems to be increasing from what I have been reading lately! |
How sad for these little pups they must have been so traumatized being taken from their mom at five weeks. This could affect them emotionally for some time to come. I feel just terrible about the pup that was not found. I hope and pray that this one is okay though. |
very irresponsible to leave puppies unattended in a back yard!!!! So sad |
omgoodness, that is so sad. I sure hope the owners will let her buy the pup |
:eek::eek: OH MY WORD!!! I just couldnt imagine... how can people be sooooooooooooooooooo cruel??? Im just in shock!!:eek::eek: |

After reading this story and the one where someone came to see the puppy and walked off with it, I am beginning to wonder if I should meet prospective buyers somewhere else when I get ready to sell my puppies. But then that would make me look like I didn't want people to see where and how the puppies lived. This is going to be more difficult than I imagined. It seems like I might need my own security people! Life would be so much easier if we could all just trust each other. |
that is awful |
What a heartbreaking story! I hope your coworker can adopt the puppy when it gets older. |
I have to question weather or not they really were in the backyard. A thief will do anything to get what they want and then tell any story to back it up a little. Oh I found them in the backyard. Hmmm...not sure about that but ya never know I guess. This story almost had me in tears thinking of the babies missing their mom and the mom wondering what happened to her babies. That's crazy. I fear we'll see worse and worse things with the economy the way it is. |

As for you selling your pups, I'm no expert but I have a suggestion. What if you meet potential buyers somewhere other than your house for a first time meet. Maybe an outdoor coffee place so you can take one of your babies with you so that potential buyers can see how nice and clean and well taken care of your babies truly are. It can also serve as a neutral buffer where you can get a sense of the people you are meeting. You know how we can get a vibe from people? And if you have your one of your pampered poochies there, you can see how they might interact with a puppy, or a dog in general (really important if they will be first time owners). You can later decide wether or not you would like to have these people in your house. Once at your house, I would have a family member or a really good friend there with you. If your really nervous how about a buff friend? :p Just suggestions if your really scared about allowing people in your house just willy nilly. Good luck! |

Good God....poor puppies...:( |
I saw the pup, it was definately really young. The hair was still really short. I was suspicious as to why it was FREE and why it was so young and away from its mother. |

When I was looking for my dog, these kinds of meetings were what tipped me off to puppy millers-they never want you to visit their homes. meeting were always suggested for coffee shops or parking lots! Its a hard call- as a buyer, I would like to see where the puppy is being raised. As a seller, she would rather not have strangers come into her home-understandable. |

I require a visit to my home and all my dogs must meet and accept the people before I would condider selling to them. I never would leave someone alone with the puppies. Poor babies I hope they find the last one. |
