Men and Yorkies I thought this was cute so I had to share :) My husband was in the Air Force (was medically retired) so he is a man's man. Well, when I wanted to get another puppy he wasn't thrilled about the idea but agreed to it. Now, he absolutely ADORES Tobie. DH was standing in the kitchen making something to eat and Tobie was just sitting there looking at him. DH turns around and goes, "why are you so cute?! I just can't stand it!" and picks him up and gives him hugs and kisses. It was so cute. He is as attached to Tobie as I am. So then today, DH was talking to one of his friends that he was in the Air Force with (his friend is still active duty) and he told him about Tobie. His friend then jokingly says that we better be careful because he might steal Tobie. lol. Apparently, he LOVES Yorkies! It just seems like men usually want big dogs so I think it's cute when they love the little ones. |

My DH was the same way... Bringing Couver home was a surprise to him, because I knew he wouldnt let me otherwise (I know... not the best choice!). He was not too happy for the first day, but after that, he has said nothing but good things about Couver. He is enamored with him!!;) It's cute. |
Tink and I were thrust upon my hubby. First me..."your bags are packed, see ya" came from home and he adopted me. Then, "the dog is too much, I am giving her away". He let us both stay together and loved her to bits. Right at the end of her life, I would take her with me to get him from boys night at the pub each Friday. When he had those couple of beers in him, he couldn't keep his hands off her, even in front of his mates. They were best buddies :D Since we met he always said he might like a Westie, but now we have space for a new pup, he wants another Yorkie. We love 'em. |
Same here hubby likes bigger dogs...But now you will see him feed her with his fork lol and honestly for some reason she will eat her other food from him that she usually don't eat, if he feeds her ,I have tried but she won't eat it from me. And I am the one that takes care of her |
Oh she would never eat for him, she wanted me to serve her dinner, but the love and cuddles were all for him :D He's a bit of a magnet for animals...you know when people say, "oh he/she won't come to you". He just sits there and the cat/dog, whatever jumps on him and settles down. Very funny, he must have some pheremone or something - not sure whether to e proud or worried about that! |
Just a sorta quick story. My son who is 35, 6feet 4 inches and 275lbs, is a long distance tractor trailer driver who takes his dog Butch everywhere with him. Well Butch is a cute as a bug, 4 lb chihuahua. Butch guards the truck when Bill has to get out etc.... Well Last weekend my son was up visiting with Butch and Bill was playing with my two dogs, Zeke the Lhasa and Baxter the yorkie. After a little while I hear Bill say to Baxter, "you know little guy, when I don't have Butch anymore I just might get a guy just like you"... He is just to funny. He has worked with rotties, and Sharpeas (wrong spelling). But he would rather have the little ones. Just had to share. |
My husband is the same! A construction worker & former black lab kinda guy. I had to talk him into a yorkie, finally he said fine if you want a little dustmop running around I'll get you one. WELL..............now we "argue" about whos baby she really is! Every single night when we watch TV he lays on the loveseat with his legs up over the end & Precious will jump right up & hunker down in a little ball on his legs. He loves her to death! MOMMY TO PRECIOUS:aimeeyork |
I LOVED all of your stories, My girls are starved for male attention. Yesterday the computer tech came over, and they almost ate the man, Luckily, he adored them. |
Yep....... they are undeniably a man's dog, too!....... Shelby & Seymour have an every morning ritual watching the news on the couch with hubby. One on each side!..... |
My husband did 11 years in the air force and has spent the last 15 years in law enforcement so he is also a man's man. He also grew up in the south where you had "real dogs" and was not too happy when I got Samson. He even told me that Sam would be my responsiblity. It took a while but I think he loves Sam more than I do (if that is possible). When we got Harley in Jan he said this is HIS dog. He even talks about the dogs at work and they tease him saying things like I hope those are your wifes dogs, a real man wouldn't have yorkies, etc. etc. He tells me he totally owns the fact that he has yorkies and he LOVES them. |
lol..that is soo cute, my boyfriend is the same way but he was the one that wanted a yorkie not me. But he gets soo jealous that Tobie is a mama's boy and will sleep with me and not him. He even tells his friends at work all about Tobie and will take pictures of him to show him off. It is harilours and super cute! I love it! |
another cute "manly" story... .......... I purchased an adorable silky nightshirt for Seymour from Gofetch. When he wears it, hubby calls it his "smoking jacket"....... just like Hef's!!! :eyetearss:eyetearss:eyetearss |

Okay...men and yorkies...I have a very funny story... My best friend was here visiting. We were sitting at the table drinking coffee. My DH was watching my baby girl in the bedroom. He is 6ft tall and 250lbs. He comes out with my very little Chloe in his hand. He says,"What do you want me to do with this dog, it's attacking me!" My friend and I bursted out laughing!!! This big guy and my 1lb puppy!!!! OMG you would've thought it was a pitbul! Dh is madly in love with my babies now...:p |
What wonderful and funny stories! My hubby is a firefighter and every time we go to the station for a visit, the guys are all over Barley. This will get them talking about their little pups at home. It's so funny to see these big and stocky guys all over the little ones. I've got to say at home, my toy poodle is all over him. He's watching the race in the den right now and she's sleeping on his lap. LOL She'll jump up on him and before you know it two hours has gone by and he's held her the entire time. :p It's funny how they can worm their way in. |
I must say my DH is still in theh IM not so sure phase. He loves Scamp and is nice to him, holding him, etc at night when hes home, but he definately is not in love with him yet and scamp will get up from laying with dh to come with me if i get up ,etc. still... Im hoping in time it will get a little more "even" for hubbys sake. I know he misses our bigger dogs but our daughter was allergic--so i think its just going to take longer for him to let scamp all the way in his heart. |

I love when a guy admits he's in love with a little dog and isn't afraid to show it. My hubby is 6"1" 220 lbs. and takes care of "his" girls like they were gold, and he even pushes the stroller. :D |

My husband was not at all thrilled with the fact of me getting even a dog. When i basically shed a few tears and told him that it would make me so happy to have a dog he caved. When we went to the petstore to pick out a puppy i had already decided on a yorkie bc of my allergies. when i picked her out he said " you want THAT one?!" and "why dont you get this one over here" haha I told him that i wanted the yorkie ( marley) and that i wouldnt settle for anything else. Well needless to say he was upset bc i think he thought i was going to get a big dog that he could rough up. He was distant from Marley for about one day and then she walked right up to him and wanted to play. as soon as they started to play he didnt come right out and say it but i know he had a warm spot for her in his heart. They play all the time now and she loves him. Ive never seen this side of him before :) He knows not to be rough yet he still plays with her gently and enjoys every minutes of it and laughs the whole time. I am really glad that he has bonded with her. He even speaks about her as if she is apart of the family already! |
my fiancé is smitten by our yorkies too. he is a "manly man" i suppose you could say. about 6'4" and well built. he will even take miss buffey with him on quick errands! and he pouts when the kids want to play with me over him :p :D i tell him to give them treats more often :) |
My husband didn't really want me to have another dog. I grieved so when my last one died that he didn't want to see me go through it again. However, he gave me my little yorkie, Tucker for Christmas. Now he loves him to death. The little guy has definitely won him over. Tucker's Mom |
Aww, I love all these stories. :) My dad will hold Sapphire and talk to her sometimes, too. :) And my younger brother, who's almost 6', plays with her sometimes, too. :) |
haha...When I told him I was getting Libbie he was all like, don't get her get a bigger better dog. blah blah blah.... He'll always say things like shes so tiny I'm just gonna kick her. I have had her for one week now and he's super attach. He is starting to tell everybody that Libbie is "his daughter". Everytime I put her in the crate when shes being naughty. He's telling me to take her out and sits by the crate to comfort her if shes crying. hehe... all guys are softy towards our fur babies. :D |
My Brother in law. who is in construction has two chihuahuas he walks. It's a riot. But he loves them dearly. My father thinks the sun rises and sits on my yorkie. They both take their naps together and when we travel in the car she's on his chest in the back seat with both of them asleep. |
My DH is the same "mans man" type. Anyway when were thinking of getting a pet. He was not thrilled I suggested a Yorkie. He was trying to convince me a Doberman will be good will guard the house and me, especially when my DH is traveling. What I did was took him to few pet stores over 1 month to see the yorkies, to pet and touch. Finally he was okay with us getting a Yorkie than took him to a breeder and got out boy Veer. but said You better keep that foo foo dog out of my way. Now he will wake up 30mins earlier so he could play with Veer in bed. BTW Veer also sleeps with us in bed. DH doesnt say anything when I keep buying him toys or cloths, he happily pays for it. |
these stories are soooooooooooooooo sweet! my story is like some of the others posted... my hubby didnt want a dog PERIOD!!! but I cried to him telling him I needed something to help with my post traumatic stress disorder... and he caved... I knew that I wanted a yorkie because I have wanted one for as long as I can remember... and he said he didnt care what kind of dog I got as long as it was the one I wanted... :D so I found my Gracie we got her a little over a year ago now... and from day one my hubby has let her sleep next to him! I have soooooooooooooooooo many pics of them sleeping together... I will have to post some... but I dont have my laptop with all of the pics on it right now... anywho... I know he just ADORES Gracie... just by the way he talks to her and plays with her... and everything!! but he still wont admit that she is "OUR DOG" lol he still says shes your dog:p  |
My hubby went to visit the same friend I mentioned in the original post and he had to make sure that he had pictures of Tobie on his ipod before he left so that he could show them off. lol. Isn't that cute?!? We don't have kids yet so I guess it's like showing off baby pictures. hehe. |
