"If that was a REAL dog" The whole "your dog is big" thing doesn't bother me, Tobie is 5 lbs and is taller then some yorkies, I just don't care if they think he is big or not, he is healthy and perfect to me. Tobie and I went to this kite doggy thing at the park today. We had a really good time but this man mad me sooo mad! We were walking and there were these people standing in the middle of the walk path talking, Tobie went between them and I went around them. So Tobie's leash went around the man and I was trying to get Tobie without interrupting their conversation. Well the man turn around and said to me "if you had a REAL dog I would have noticed him" he wasn't joking the tone of his voice was very offensive. I just hate it when people that I don't know make those type of comments like "thats not a dog" or " what is that a rat?" I just think it is very uncalled for. Anyways...just had to vent. |
People just don't understand:confused: Here's a suggestion for the next time you run into someone that has something rude to say..."Please don't say D*O*G* outloud, he doesn't know that he's not a person and I don't want to hurt his feelings:D |

Ugh i hate when people make comments like that. I was in a pet store and some older woman had a german shepherd and this other guy was helping his wife out with their two yorkies. The older woman (who couldn't handle the dog anyway) said... what's with men and these prissy lil dogs and we women have these big manly dogs. I hate when people do things like that... they don't think men can have small dogs. Also, I took my dog and my bf's dog to a dog park. And there were two guys with big dogs walking behind us... one of them said what's the point of having a small dog? Wouldn't you want a dog that you could actually do stuff with and have protect you. But, his friend said to him, "well not really, it just depends on the situation and not all people want a big dog or have room for one." I like that he defended small dogs... in a way. :D |
That was EXTREMELY rude. |
ppl say stuff like this ALL the time... i don't care cuz i love my babah! he makes my heart happy!!!:D |

I always say, "This dog doesn't shed or stink." That gives them a little taste of their own medicine. |
I have a rather sharp tongue. I probably would have said "If you were a REAL man, you'd have enough manners to step off the walking path to hold your conversation." And I probably would have said it aloud, too. (My hubby hates it when I do that, but if someone opens the door to rudeness, I sometimes will step through...) |

:tongue4::bleh::tongue4: I would have said, WHATEVER!!!! |
that was incredibly rude and insensitive. I get the "is that a rat" comment from people all the time and I get so insulted. |
It really bugs me too when people say things like that! the other day i took Bria out to potty and this older man was also out there walking his dog. Bria and I were on one side of the street they were on the other side. His dog wanted to come over and say Hi to Bria but he said NOOO (whatever his dog's name was) you can't over there she will bit your ankles off :whatraise |
1 Attachment(s) Here is a picture of a man with a real dog :D We dont care what people say, do we my baby. |
I hate, hate, HATE the rat comments. That one bothers me the most. We have one 7lb yorkie and one under 3lbs. I get tired of hearing our small one called a rat..... haha of course then I get annoyed when at the dog park everyone there (usually dog lovers of course - and in the small dog section) all flock to our small one and ohh and awe her, ignore my "big" 7lb one. Poor guy only gets attention if our little one isn't around lol |

OMG! I totally know what you mean. My own mother-in-law said "that's not a real dog" to me! I was furious! She owns an Airdale. He's a moose! Talk about real dogs:rolleyes: sheesh! |

Girl, you are after my own heart! We must be sisters in a previous life, cause I was just thinking that!!!:D |
That would piss me off!! I haven't gotten that from strangers, but my brother in-law likes to joke about how his giant mutt would eat my Couver. I just laugh it off, but I want to tell him all the good things about my boy (no slobber, chewing, shedding, smell, no knocking things off the coffee table and jumping on the counter...). Haha. And plus, I don't need a dog for protection, I have my 6'4" 280 DH :D |
rude people at petsmart People are so rude!! I was at petsmart yesterday and I was talking to my friend over at banfield vet ( i use to work there....sad I know) and this couple was walking by and I heard him say " look hun he looks like a little rat" Oh my gosh!! I was sooo mad...I was more mad just bc of everything you guys say about your stories too so that just added to my madness.. Then the couple had enough nerve to try to pet peanut!!! HaHa Peanut was on his retractable harness and leash....I was watching in the corner of my eye and just when they got close enough to touch peanut I pulled him in haha..the lady said under her breath " isnt that rude" then I was steaming at this point and I said " why do you want to pet a rat??? I said " anyone who calls my baby a rat doesnt derserve to pet him! and I picked peanut up and turned my back to them :p I felt bad for peanut bc he LOVES everyone and he didnt understand why they couldnt pet him hehe... Anywho people aer just rude!! |

But in this case I'd probably say something like, "What kind of a REAL man isn't aware of his surroundings and allows himself to become tangled up by a fu-fu little dog? Well see, that's the key word, isn't it. No REAL man would." Say it with a smile and that look of pity you use when dealing with people of smaller minds. |
The one that made me stop and say something back was when this man old enough to know better said "look a mop with legs" and I said do you think your funny or are you looking for trouble. He turned his back on me and walked away. Some people don't have a HEPA filter between their brains and their mouth. |
O M G ! ! I KNOW EXACTLY HOW YOU FEEL! Every time I bring her around people say some stupid stuff like that. I just HATE HATE HATE IT! Its usually the stupid ignorant people! |

OMG! I have so many people do that. Ew... look at the rat! Then a few seconds later they take a good look at her and realize how cute she is then asks...can I hold her/pet her. UGH!! People these days!:mad: |

I have been fortunate enough not to have run into idiotic people .... however when I do , I would not let them bother me . Because they are strangers, and are clueless. My Suzi is very friendly and loves everybody. She goes up to just about anyone to say hello, if I let her. Most people find her to be delightful. But, if there is someone who is going to be rude, then I'd just walk away. Really, if they can't stand a cute little dog coming over to say hi to them, without being ugly, then IMO there is something very wrong with them. OUr Yorkie's are not rats, or anything else insulting people want to call them. Don't let it bother you. Ignore it, and walk away. You have a beautiful, sweet little yorkie and this is what matters most of all. :) |
