Why do dogs like the taste of body lotion? - YorkieTalk.com Forums

I hope I am not the only person that has experienced this issue. My Wheaton Terrier "Chobee", Yorkie Poo "Rocky" and Yorkie "Carlie" all try to lick the lotion off of my legs. It can't be healthy can it?

Baxter does the same thing! He likes to lick my legs right when I get out of the shower, then after I put on lotion, he likes to lick my legs some more!

I always tell him to stop...

Harley does the same thing! Every morning I'm telling him to get back becuase he can lick lotion faster than I can put it on! I use Vanilla Lace from Victoria Secret, what do you use? (Just seeing if maybe they are attracted to certain scents)

Same thing here with Finnigan. Anytime I get out of the shower or put lotion of any kind on my legs he's over trying to lick them....

both of mine love to lick me out of the shower and then stand around and wait until I put lotion and and will start the licking again, I understand the shower part because they are licking the water off my legs but not the lotion part.

Both my boys are like that

As soon as I get out of the shower and worse when I put lotion on my legs. They have gotten better over time with me, but my hubby lets them without telling them "no".

I use Bath and Body works, Coconut Lime Verbena or Hempz Age defying herbal mosturizer. Seriously I hop around the bathroom like a crazy woman after I get out of the shower. I don't think it is a game, I really think they like the taste

I am relieved to find out I am not the only person with a furbaby who likes the taste of lotion.

Same thing happens here too!

It's not a certain brand either, I switch it up now and then and it doesn't seem to phase them!

every dog ive had (being my yorkie and my parents shih tzu's) all love the taste of lotion. whether it be regular body lotion, tanning lotion, or cream! it's weird!!! lol just as long as they dont eat a LOT of it, i dont think its TOO bad...

Gucci does too! As soon as I get out of the shower he licks the water drops off of my legs and when I put on lotion he licks it off too (doesn't matter if it's legs or arms).
He doesn't discriminate either! I use both La Mer body lotion and the Victoria Secret Dream Angels Desire Lotion...It really doesn't matter which one...LOL

Nozzle does too and I usually just use some Dove lotion...weirder, though, is he likes to lick off my face lotions, and that does scare me because I use some topical acne meds...

SEe this is why I love this website......just when you think you are all alone in some craziness....you find out you aren't. Miss Maya started this and she just sits there in anticipation of me putting on my body butter (if you haven't ever tried this ladies you REALLY should, the best ones come from the body shop). Then she proceeds to lick it off, and then I say to myself "great, now why did I jsut go and get clean?" Going to work with little puppy lick all over me LOL
