DISGUSTED with Dog Fancy I just got my new Dog Fancy in the mail today and on the cover it says Valuable Petco Coupons Inside I am DISGUSTED that this magazine supports such a despicable store and thus support puppy mills..... If you would like to write to them- as I did- send your email to barkback@dogfancy.com If this continues I will be discontinuing my dog fancy subscription. |

I also thought it was petland. I've been in petco's and never seen any animals for sale. |
I don't know much about Petco or how they support puppy mills. I didn't think they sold dogs but I don't shop there much. I do know that most print outlets, magazines, newspapers are having a hard time staying in print right now and they probably need any and all advertisers. That being said, I do believe it is everyone's right to not support things they don't believe in. |
It's not Petco, it's petland. Petco is just like petsmart:confused: |
Our Petco stores have dog adoptions on Saturdays from shelters and rescue organizations. On Sundays they do the same thing with cats and bunnies. |
Well, yes, adoptions from humand societys and animal shelters. Our petsmart does that I think once a month or once every few mos. but, they have them outside, and it's not the store selling them |

The petsmart by me adopts out cats and sometimes dogs,but it is through the humane society.I just wanted to know if there was some new info. I was not aware of reguarding petco.I like to be in the know on these things.:) |
I don't see a problem with having coupons in this magazine. After all, the magazine wouldn't be able to stick around (especially in this economy) without other companies paying to put their ads and coupons inside Dog Fancy. |

I think the OP is confused about Petco and Petland since she lives in Canada. |
I've never heard of Petco selling them, just petland. |

We do have a couple of Petlands here in B.C.--two within reasonable driving distance from me. And I see there are two locations listed in Ontario. And they do sell dogs. :( As for Petco's, I've only spotted them across the border on the US side. :p It's great you that you don't need to cancel your subscription! ;) |
Good for you for sticking up for these poor defenseless animals. It's ok to be mistaken, we are all human. But bless you for being so passionate about this cause. |

I am so glad that California does NOT have any Petlands:thumbdown Petco's and Petsmarts, all have adoption days every weekend inside their stores. they carefully screen perspective new owners. It is a wonderful program. I typically have seen plenty of cats and kittens, with many larger bred dogs . All of those places keep a small section off kitties up for adoption inside the store too. I go and look at them and they are always very well kept. :thumbup: |
we receive a pet supplies retailer mag- in the last one was a press release stating that Petco will no longer sell rabbits,ferrets etc and will begin holding rescue events for these pets instead...hope that helps:) |
