How NOT to get a puppy from me
 

As some of you know my little (Biewer) puppy, Tank, is still looking for his forever home...so, I get this phone call around 9:30 last night.

him: Is the puppy still for sale?
me: Yes, he is still available.
him: What is your best price?
me: Excuse me?
him: how big will he be?
me: There's no way to guarantee but I'm thinking probably around 9 or 10 pounds.
him: Hmmm...o.k...I will give you half of what you are asking.
me: No, Tank is reasonably priced, Biewers usually sell for more than I'm asking.
him: But I will give you 1/2 of what you are asking o.k?
me: No. I'm sorry, I don't know you or anyhing about you and I certainly wouldn't agree to sell my puppy at 1/2 price just like that.

At this point he proceeds to tell me his name, where he lives who he lives with...etc...etc...

Then he says..

him: I have a female and she is in, what some people have said, is her heat season and she needs a husband.
me: :eek:
him: so I would buy this puppy and give him to my female as her husband and also let him be a playmate for my daughter.
me: :eek:
him: So I will give you 1/2 of your price, o.k?
me: I'm sorry but you can't have my puppy. I am pretty particular about where my puppies go and Tank will not be sold to the first person with a little money and he will not be sold as a 'husband'.
him: oh...well, o.k.

I mean...come on...did he think that was going to work? He probably doesn't even know what a Biewer is...it seemed like he was just looking for a male, of any kind, to toss in with his female. I can't believe people!

Needless to say...he isn't getting a puppy from me...even if he does have cash for half of what I'm asking! LOL!

I think I was in shock and couldn't think fast enough to tell him what I was really thinking!

:mad: what an idiot ! The nerve of some people amaze me. Thank god you a wonderful breeder who knows how to deal with them kind, just think of how many others he has probably called and chances are one will fall for it :(

Thank you...and that's exactly what worries me! In this economy someone will be more interested in the $$ than the proper placement of their dog or puppy.

Carmen, I think "amazing" is a MUCH more decent word than I would have used!

People have know clue how much money and TIME we spend on the puppies.

I constantly received call and email asking for a discount on my puppy.

If you can even afford the dog? how are you going to paid for his food,vet bills
etc. That is my usual answer...

And good luck to breed his female with a puppy! :rolleyes: dummy!!!

Like others said, I was taught not to call people after 9 and for him to pimp your baby up is beyond me. But then again, there are some really rude people out there. I totally agree with you, "NO PUPPY FOR HIM"!!

I brought my Pebbles to get groomed because the next day she was getting spayed. The groomer tried to talk me out of doing it. He said there was alot of money in yorkies... I couldn't believe it. He said I should rethink it. WHAT??? jerk!!!
Thank goodness little Tank has you to look out for him. This guy who called was an idiot. Sometimes I just don't know what people are thinking. I know you will find the perfect home for him. He's one lucky little guy!!

wow some people just don't know HOW to speak to someone else especially when it comes to a beloved animal! When I had to sell my yorki-poo it took me two months to find her a GOOD home because I was so SICK of the stupid emails and phone calls from people who just didn't know HOW to speak to me!

BTW, I have been following Tank's thread and he is gorgeous! I have showed my dh several times. Even calculated airfare. LOL. Whoever ends up with Tank will be so blessed! I keep checking to see the news on him.

My reply to bargain hunter's who are pushy like this guy is "I wouldn't even sell this to you if you were to pay full price". That usually shuts them up real quick.
